Jannik Sinner earned his first top seeding at an ATP Masters 1000 event after Novak Djokovic withdrew from the Madrid Open, where he was expected to lead. Djokovic's second consecutive withdrawal from the tournament opened the door for Sinner, as noted by tennis journalist Bastien Fachan on X (formerly Twitter).

"Following Djokovic's withdrawal from Madrid, Sinner will be the No.1 seed at a Masters 1000 for the first time of his career," Fachan wrote.

Daniil Medvedev's daughter Alisa joins father on clay court ahead of Madrid Open

Daniil Medvedev's wife Daria shared an adorable video of their daughter Alisa getting a head start on her tennis career. The toddler was spotted on the clay courts of Monte Carlo, playfully swinging a junior racket before being captivated by her dad's practice session for the upcoming Madrid Open.

Garbine Muguruza made the unexpected announcement of her impending retirement from professional tennis on Saturday, April 20. Since January 2023, Muguruza has been absent from the court, stating at that time that she would be taking an indefinite hiatus. In an interview conducted earlier in 2024, she gave no indication of planning a return to the sport.

Muguruza recently held a press conference in Madrid where she revealed that she has decided to permanently retire from tennis.

"I feel like the time has come to say goodbye," Muguruza said, as collected from various Spanish sources. "I feel that it is time to open a new stage, a new era in my life."

Serena Williams gets emotional about daughter Olympia's school performance

Serena Williams revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that she got emotional and tried to hold back her tears during her six-year-old daughter Olympia's school performance.

"I was at my kids school performance today. And ummm no that was not me getting chocked up and blinking 100 times so the tears don’t fall out," she wrote.
