2015 Money in the Bank: Full match card analysis and predictions

Dean Ambrose

A two-week preparation is not much for a marquee pay-per-view like Money in the Bank. Despite their limitations with regards to storylines, WWE came up with a credible build up for the show. The card will be headlined by the bout between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. The two men will fight over the WWE World Heavyweight championship in a ladder match.

The second most important match from Sunday will be the Money in the Bank ladder match. Seven men will be trying to grab that briefcase, but only one will be crowned Mr. Money in the Bank. Elsewhere, John Cena vs. Kevin Owens 2.0 will also be a major part of the card. Four other undercard matches will also be there for Money in the Bank.

As we are just hours away from the show, here is a look at the full match card analysis and predictions.

R-Truth vs. King Barrett

R-Truth vs. King Barrett

The inclusion of this match into the pay-per-view is completely pointless. Both superstars have no momentum whatsoever. Barrett seemed destined to have a good run after winning the King of the Ring, but he is relegated to pre-shows now. R-Truth getting a spot in the Elimination Chamber match itself was a big miracle.

Barrett will win the match hands down as he needs a desperate change of fortune. The only thing that matters would be the way in which he wins. It could be a short squash match or WWE could give Barrett enough time to tell a story.

Prediction: Barrett wins

New Day vs. The Prime Time Players (Tag Team Championship)

New Day vs. The Prime Time Players (Tag Team Championship)

After stealing the show at Elimination Chamber, the tag team division will be back at Money in the Bank. New Day will have a lesser challenge this time around in the form of Prime Time Players. The match shows shades of brilliant booking by the WWE creative team if they intended it. On any other day, New Day would have won this match easily.

However, now that The Wyatt Family are getting a build on the other side of the division, there is a slim chance of the babyfaces winning the title. This adds unpredictability to the match. What will come to New Day’s rescue is Kofi Kingston’s absence. WWE is not going to let them drop the title without Kofi around. So it might be a win for New Day on Sunday.

Prediction: New Day Wins

Ryback vs. Big Show (Intercontinental Championship)

Ryback vs. Big Show (Intercontinental Championship)

A few months back, the Intercontinental Championship was stealing the show at WrestleMania. Fast forward to present, it is being decided in a match between Ryback and Big Show. With all respect to both the superstars, a majority portion of the fans will probably end up getting bored with this one.

There is no emotional investment in the feud and Big Show looks in no condition to have a title run. This is only an attempt by WWE to help Ryback get a win under his belt. Show getting the gold will be a big twist and will do no good for both men. It is a clean win for Ryback unless WWE wants to keep the feud going for another pay-per-view.

Prediction: Ryback wins

Nikki Bella vs. Paige (Divas Championship)

Nikki Bella vs. Paige (Divas Championship)

The Nikki Bella vs. Paige match is turning into the Randy Orton vs. John Cena match of the divas division. We have seen these two lock horns for a million times. This adds more pressure on the girls to deliver. They will struggle to pull off something new and if they don’t the fans will tag the match as boring.

It is an awkward situation for both the girls. As far as the result is concerned, the fans will love to see Paige get a win. But there is a problem in this. Nikki looks all set to break the longest reign record that AJ Lee set. WWE will want this to happen due to the way in which AJ left WWE. For this to happen, Nikki should retain her title at MITB whether the fans like it or not.

Prediction: Nikki Bella wins.

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

For the second pay-per-view in a row, Kevin Owens and John Cena will be looking to blow the roof off. Last time around, Owens completely won over the crowd with his work. The win did him a lot of favors, but his luck might run out on Sunday. When was the last time a new superstar got two clean wins over John Cena? It is a question of paramount significance here.

Not having any title on the line helps WWE to go either way. Despite the possibility, Cena is the favorite here. His win could be cheap, but Cena is getting the win over Owens. WWE will do everything they can protect the NXT champion, but he will not be going out as the winner on Sunday.

Prediction: John Cena wins

Dolph Ziggler vs. Neville vs. Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns vs. Kane (Money in the Banks)

Money in the Bank ladder match

Just like all the previous editions, this year’s pay-per-view will see Money in the Bank match as its cornerstone. WWE lined up seven talented names for the match and even though the selection criteria are still unknown, they have some good firepower here.

WWE could go two ways. First they could do the obvious and let Roman Reigns win. It will be expected from the fans and Reigns will get a shower of jeers. The second option is to let someone else win. Neville is the prime candidate while there are some outside chances for Orton and Kane.

But knowing WWE, they are likely to go with the first option. Reigns need a win right now and it also opens up the door for his heel turn.

Prediction: Roman Reigns wins

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose (WWE World Heavyweight championship)

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose (WWE World Heavyweight championship)

Last year, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and their ladder stood out at Money in the Bank. This year will not be any different. No matter how WWE ends this match, one thing is for sure: the match will be awesome. Rollins and Ambrose do not have a history of giving any bad match and that record will be kept intact on Sunday as well.

There will be a lot of action from the two men. The overbooking will be there in plenty as well. J&J security might play a big role in the match despite what happened on Raw. If WWE is executing the heel turn of Reigns at Money in the bank, then Dean Ambrose will win it. If Reigns is not turning heel, then Rollins will retain. It is as simple as that.

However, since we have a Brock Lesnar factor in the mix, Rollins is the favorite to win on Sunday. This way, WWE could have a Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar match at Battleground and then a Lesnar vs. Rollins match at SummerSlam.

Prediction: Rollins wins
