The original plan for Survivor Series 2020 was to have a WWE Champion vs. Universal Champion Interbrand match between Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. On the latest edition of RAW, Drew McIntyre left the fans astonished when he defeated Orton to win the WWE title for the second time in his career.

Now, we are mere days away from one of the most anticipated matches in recent memory. Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre aren't exactly strangers and have previously locked horns in the ring. This time though, the characters are completely different, with Reigns being a ruthless heel and McIntyre being a good guy. This is one match that has left the fans wondering as to who would take the fall. In this list, we will take a look at three reasons why Roman Reigns should come out victorious on Sunday, and three reasons why Drew McIntyre should.

#6 Why Roman Reigns should win: It would make for a solid brag while recruiting potential members in the future

Rumors have been running around for a while now that Roman Reigns is going to lead a stable on WWE SmackDown. The seeds for the same were planted back at WWE Hell in A Cell, soon after which Jey Uso aligned with Reigns. In the near future, if Roman Reigns looks to add more members to his faction, he will have a pretty solid point to put across if he beats McIntyre on Sunday.

A Roman Reigns-led faction has tons of potential

When a Superstar is the most dominant guy on his own roster, and also manages to defeat the top champion on the other brand, there's zero doubt at that point in regards to his status as WWE's top guy. Reigns will have no issues recruiting more people in his faction, who would be more than willing to join him knowing that there's nobody out there to stop him.

#5 Why Drew McIntyre should win: A perfect end to one of the greatest years of any Superstar in WWE history

There isn't much doubt as to which WWE Superstar this year belonged to. Drew McIntyre has had the greatest year of his career in 2020, and there's no one that comes close to him. Roman Reigns spent a better part of the year away from the action, so he doesn't have much of a case here. McIntyre kicked off the year by winning the 2020 Royal Rumble match.

A win over Roman Reigns will give McIntyre a perfect climax to a successful 2020

He went on to defeat Brock Lesnar for the WWE title at WrestleMania 36, and then put down a string of opponents on his way to main event greatness. McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, Bobby Lashley, and Randy Orton in WWE title matches on big stages. Now, if McIntyre defeats Roman Reigns at Survivor Series, it would a perfect cap-off to one of the greatest years of any wrestler in the rich and storied history of WWE. McIntyre needs to put down Roman Reigns to put another feather in his cap and solidify himself as the biggest WWE Superstar of 2020.

#4 Why Roman Reigns should win: He needs to be protected heavily in case the rumored match against The Rock does happen eventually

The Rock and Roman Reigns

For a while now, both Roman Reigns and The Rock have made it clear that they want to face each other at The Grandest Stage Of Them All, WrestleMania. Rumor has it that the duo could face off at WrestleMania 37 next year. There's not a shred of a doubt that this will be one of the biggest matches in WWE history, pitting two of the greatest to ever step foot in the ring.

Roman Reigns vs. The Rock could very well happen at WrestleMania 37

If this match ends up happening at WrestleMania, WWE needs to protect Roman Reigns heavily on the road to The Show of Shows. The idea should be to let Reigns run roughshod over everyone before he finally meets his match in form of The Rock. At WrestleMania, Reigns can then retire The Rock for good, and solidify himself as one of the greatest villains of all time. But for that to happen, he needs to pick up a big win over McIntyre on Sunday.

#3 Why Drew McIntyre should win: He has already suffered a huge loss against Roman Reigns

In early 2019, Roman Reigns returned on WWE RAW on the road to WrestleMania 35, after being on hiatus for months on end due to his battle with leukemia. Reigns reformed The Shield with Jon Moxley and Seth Rollins, and the trio feuded with Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and King Corbin. As WrestleMania approached closer, McIntyre and Roman Reigns kicked off a feud and a match was set for the big stage.

Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre engaged in battle at WrestleMania 35

At WrestleMania 35, Roman Reigns defeated McIntyre in a one-on-one capacity, making it clear that he hadn't lost his touch one bit. McIntyre already has a big loss against Roman Reigns, at WrestleMania of all places. He is currently one of the biggest Superstars in WWE, and it wouldn't be a good idea to have him register a record of 0-2 against Roman Reigns. Let McIntyre defeat Reigns this time around, to make it even, and the duo can have another big match somewhere down the line, to settle the score.

#2 Why Roman Reigns should win: It would help set up a big feud with Brock Lesnar if The Beast ends up returning

Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar

This point assumes that Brock Lesnar will make a return to WWE at some point in time. Ever since fans saw Roman Reigns turn heel, they have been craving for a feud between Reigns and Brock Lesnar, two former rivals. In the past, Brock Lesnar has dominated Roman Reigns on most occasions, and it took a long time for Reigns to put him down for the Universal title. Drew McIntyre, on the other hand, defeated Lesnar in his very first attempt.

A heel Roman Reigns vs. a returning Brock Lesnar is one rivalry fans would love to see again

Now, if Roman Reigns defeats Drew McIntyre, he will have the ability to brag that he defeated the guy who dominated Lesnar as very few did before. If Lesnar ends up coming back in the future, Roman Reigns could use this point in case the two resume their rivalry on WWE TV. A heel Roman Reigns vs. a returning Brock Lesnar is nothing but money, and a win for Reigns on Sunday could certainly be used in that feud by The Tribal Chief, to get in Lesnar's head.

#1 Why Drew McIntyre should win: Drew McIntyre will get to brag that he has defeated all members of The Shield

The Shield
The Shield

There aren't many men who can brag that they have defeated every single member of The Shield in singles competition. Drew McIntyre is one win away from being able to brag that he has put down every member of the infamous faction. Roman Reigns is the only member of The Shield who hasn't lost to McIntyre in singles competition. On the road to WrestleMania 35 last year, McIntyre wowed to put an end to The Shield.

Roman Reigns is the only Shield member McIntyre hasn't beaten

He went on to destroy Jon Moxley on an episode of WWE RAW. McIntyre later put down Seth Rollins as well, this time due to interference from Brock Lesnar. McIntyre failed to defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35, but he now has another chance to do what he had been wanting to, for a long time. A win over Roman Reigns will put him in an elite list of Superstars who have defeated all three members of The Shield.
