Every year, usually after WrestleMania, the WWE compiles and publishes a list of people who have been released. These names are normally people who contribute very little to the product or, are surplus to requirements. It has become a tradition to announce these releases on WWE.com and wishing these wrestlers "the best in their future endeavors".

This is a very "corporate" way to handle company firings but, sometimes wrestlers can be fired on the spot. This can happen for a variety of reasons, like a wrestler getting into trouble outside the company.

Every company in the world fires employees, and most of the time these employees are fired for the correct reasons but, sometimes employees are fired for no good reason, or for stupid reasons. The WWE is no exception to this, they have fired many wrestlers over the years for stupid reasons.

Here are 4 wrestlers that WWE fired for stupid reasons.

#4 Emma

Emma was the first ever WWE Women's wrestler from Australia. She signed with the company's developmental brand, FCW, in 2011. She was released from the company on October 29th 2017, but this wasn't the first time she was fired.

In 2014, Emma was fired by the WWE for stealing a IPad case from a Walmart in Connecticut. She was accused of stealing the case on Monday, June 30th 2014, just before an episode of RAW. She appeared in a community court the next day and was charged with sixth-degree larceny. Her lawyer said that she had simply forgotten to scan the case (worth $21), after already paying for $30 worth of items.

WWE released Emma on July 2nd 2014 and then re-hired two hours later! The initial statement on her release was updated to read "WWE has reinstated Tenille Dashwood (Emma) but will take appropriate action for her violation of the law". The WWE realized they had made a very quick and harsh decision, and accepted that they made a mistake firing her.

#3 Alberto Del Rio

In August 2014 Alberto Del Rio was fired by the WWE. Fans were shocked to hear that the former four-time world champion had been released so suddenly. The WWE stated that he was fired for unprofessional conduct and an altercation with an employee. Eventually details of the incident leaked through Wrestling news sites. Del Rio had slapped a WWE employee for calling him a racial slur behind his back. Apparently, Del Rio learned of what the employee had said and confronted him about it. The employee reportedly refused to apologize and Del Rio took actions into his own hands.

WWE received plenty of backlash from fans and the media for how they handled this issue. They hired Del Rio again around a year later but that run was cut short after Del Rio and the WWE mutually parted ways.

I don't condone violence but I can understand why Del Rio reacted like he did and a lot of people sided with him on this matter.

#2 Daniel Bryan

The Nexus invasion of RAW is still one of the most incredible and shocking moments ever. Unfortunately most of the Nexus members failed to achieve major success. The most successful member of the Nexus is Daniel Bryan.

The only time Bryan appeared as part of The Nexus was during the original invasion. That night, they were told to destroy everything. They beat down CM Punk and John Cena, they took the ring apart and even began attacking the announcers and commentators at ringside. Daniel Bryan took this a little too far and proceeded to choke Justin Roberts with his own tie. The "powers that be" backstage were furious at this and Bryan was released from the company.

Fans were outraged, many felt that what he had only made the angle more impactful. Roberts himself came forward and defended Bryan. The WWE eventually re-hired Bryan for the Team Cena vs Nexus match at SummerSlam 2010, and the rest is history.

#1 Matt Hardy

In 2005, Matt Hardy was on the shelf dealing with a severe knee injury. While out injured he discovered that his long time girlfriend, Lita, had been having an affair with Edge while on the road. Upon learning this, Hardy took to the internet and began to spill dirty secrets on his blog. Hardy even famously confronted Lita on WWE Byte (a live call-in show on WWE.com). He questioned her about the affair, and accused Edge of adultery.

WWE fired Hardy due to this unprofessional behavior and the WWE received lots of fan backlash. People felt that Edge and Lita were wrong and, they should have been the ones sent home. This led to them being booed and jeered loudly on TV. Fan's began a petition to have Hardy re-hired. He was eventually hired again and went on to work and angle with Edge and Lita based around the real life affair.
