Five compelling reasons why Stephanie McMahon should return to the ring

Although she is excelling in her backstage role, Stephanie McMahon should return to in-ring competition.

Stephanie McMahon has been one of the most controversial figures during the attitude and ruthless aggression eras. No matter what she did in or outside the ring, she always got a reaction from the WWE Universe.

While The Billion Dollar Princess was not originally an in-ring competitor, she is an astonishing storyteller. McMahon played a part in some of the most entertaining storylines in WWE history.

The Queen of Queens has not competed regularly since the late 1990s and early 2000s. She has had only three matches in the past two decades. Her last bout came at WrestleMania 34 when she teamed up with Triple H to lose against Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle.

Despite her not being interested at the moment, there are five compelling reasons why Stephanie McMahon should return to the ring soon.

#5. Stephanie McMahon will liven up the women's division

The WWE women's division has lost many talented wrestlers over the past few years. Some left temporarily for personal reasons, like Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey, and others were released from their contracts, like Mickie James and The IIconics.

With the loss of several top superstars, the WWE women's division now seems in urgent need of a boost to liven it up again and restore its post-Women's Revolution glamor. Stephanie McMahon can provide that much-needed boost. The Queen of Queen's polarizing figure is sure to attract the WWE Universe's attention.

While many current female superstars are better in-ring performers than Stephanie McMahon, only a few can go head-to-head with the current WWE Chief Brand Officer on the mic. That would no doubt help build up eye-catching storylines.

McMahon's rivalry with Ronda Rousey is an example of how The Billion Dollar Princess makes up for her weak in-ring skills with her ability to build up an exciting storyline.

Throughout McMahon's rivalry with Rousey, there was little physical contact between the two ladies. However, it was one of the best rivalries of the year, and their mixed-tag team match at WrestleMania 34 was arguably the best of the night due to the build-up.

This ability to attract attention and get a reaction out of the WWE Universe would elevate the currently suffering women's division.

#4. Stephanie McMahon attracts stars

Stephanie McMahon has a list of athletes that she wants to bring to WWE. One name that she took off the list a few years ago was Ronda Rousey.

Before signing for WWE, The Queen of Queens spoke several times about her desire to see Rousey compete in WWE. The Baddest Woman on the Planet granted McMahon her wish but made one special request.

"My one request when we first started was I wanted to finish my storyline with Stephanie, so that was my one request because I love Stephanie McMahon so much, which is so funny because we’re supposed to hate each other’s guts, but I love her! Oh my god, I love her so much," Rousey revealed in an interview with UFC.com’s Megan Olivi.

Just like with Ronda Rousey, getting into a storyline and fighting Stephanie McMahon could be appealing for some megastars to join WWE. One of the names Stephanie McMahon "would kill" to have in WWE is tennis megastar Serena Williams.

The WWE Chief Brand Officer has a friendly relationship with the multi-time Grand Slam Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist. Maybe a storyline between the two strong ladies would convince Williams to make the jump from the tennis courts to the WWE ring.

#3. Stephanie McMahon could become the ultimate heel

The current WWE Women's Division has a few heel characters. However, none of them can match Stephanie McMahon's ability to play the bad guy's role. McMahon could make an in-ring return and play the ultimate heel character as her father did during the attitude era and beyond.

Vince McMahon's authority to book matches meant his rivals and opponents went through hell before facing him in the ring. Similarly, Stephanie McMahon can play the ultimate heel and put all those who cross her through hell.

It would not be the first time for the Queen of Queens as she has done it before with Brie Bella. In 2014, the two ladies went into a feud that saw Brie get fired and her sister gets screwed over and over on Monday Night RAW by the Chairman's daughter. The feud then came to an end when McMahon defeated Brie at SummerSlam after Nikki betrayed her twin sister.

Stephanie McMahon becoming the ultimate heel on WWE TV would benefit the company in regards to having exciting storylines. It would also give her a chance to have fun as McMahon revealed that she enjoys playing the bad guy on TV.

"I just like to have fun. Being able to play the bad guy as my character is on TV as a member of The Authority and being probably one of the ultimate villains on the show. I love to play the bad guy. It’s just so much fun," she told Yahoo Sports.

Would you like to see Stephanie McMahon follow in her father's footsteps and become the ultimate heel on WWE TV?

#2. Stephanie McMahon loves wrestling and is still in great shape

Stephanie McMahon loves to compete in the ring. She is also still in great physical shape despite being 44 years old.

In an interview with The Mirror, The Billion Dollar Princess spoke about her love for in-ring competition despite admitting she is not the best performer.

"I absolutely love the in-ring performance aspect to what we do. It’s such an honour to be able to get in there with some of those performers and actually take bumps or tell a story of the match. I’m not necessarily the best but I do love to get in there."

Stephanie McMahon also has the physical ability to get back in the ring whenever she pleases. The former WWE Women's Champion insisted that she never messes up her diet despite her busy office schedule.

"I’ll order in some meals, or bring in pre-prepared meals. I scramble to eat between meetings, but if I have to I will eat during a meeting. Nutrition is so important to me and its part of my lifestyle," McMahon said in an interview with RX Muscle.

McMahon also trains like a beast. In 2013, her trainer Joe DeFranco said her body was suffering from old wrestling injuries when they first started working together. Her body was also negatively affected by giving birth to three kids. However, DeFranco designed her a special program to train like an athlete in which she excelled.

Today, Stephanie McMahon gives the WWE Universe glimpses of her training routines through her social media accounts. Judging by what we see, The Billion Dollar Princess would not need much time to prepare for in-ring action if she decides to return.

#1. Stephanie McMahon has pending challenges

Stephanie McMahon returning to in-ring competition would be good news for several WWE female superstars. A few top female wrestlers have expressed their desire to face The Billion Dollar Princess in the ring.

Charlotte Flair is one of those interested in going one-on-one with McMahon in a Queen versus Queen match. In an interview with WWE Slam Crate, the former WWE RAW Women's Champion revealed that McMahon would be her ideal WrestleMania opponent.

Becky Lynch also issued a challenge to Stephanie McMahon two years ago. Stephanie refused to accept or decline Becky's offer back then.

Another WWE Superstar who dreams of facing Stephanie McMahon is Bayley. The Role Model revealed in an interview with NBC Sports in 2017 that she would like to start a rivalry with The Billion Dollar Princess. She wants their feud to be similar to the one between Vince McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The list of female superstars who would love to get in the ring with Stephanie McMahon does not end there. Sasha Banks also wants a piece of the Chief Brand Officer of WWE.

"I would love to wrestle Stephanie McMahon. I would love to let her know that I am the boss of the WWE. She can just be the Princess, I’m the true boss," Banks said in an interview with The Manchester Evening News in 2017.

Answering these challenges would certainly be a compelling reason for Stephanie McMahon to return to the ring.
