5 Superstars Randy Orton could name as his next target on WWE RAW

Is he the biggest heel on WWE's current roster?
Is he the biggest heel on WWE's current roster?

For the last several weeks, the extremely poor ratings of WWE Monday Night RAW has been a huge topic of discussion among the fans. With the "Flagship Show" of WWE hitting its lowest ratings in history, Vince McMahon would surely want to improve the situation. Probably with that in mind, WWE has announced a massive segment for this week's RAW involving Randy Orton.

As announced by WWE, Randy Orton will kick-off this week's Monday Night RAW by naming his next target. The Apex Predator has arguably become the biggest heel in WWE, across all its brands, in the last few months. But after defeating Edge in the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever at WWE Backlash 2020, Randy Orton has been on a spree of taking out WWE Superstars and legends, courtesy his deadly Punt Kick.

So the question now is, who will Randy Orton target next? While the initial plans were him to have a match with Edge at WWE SummerSlam, the Rated-R Superstar is out injured for a long time. But with the Biggest Party of Summer around the corner, can we see him call out more big names?

Let's take a look at five WWE Superstars who Randy Orton could name as his next target on WWE RAW. Be sure to comment down and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

#5 Randy Orton calls out NXT Superstar Tommaso Ciampa

Last month, Randy Orton and Tommaso Ciampa teased a massive feud on Twitter. It was the Viper who started it by taking a dig at the "leg slaps" from NXT Superstars at NXT TakeOver: In Your House. This led to a heated exchange between him and former NXT Champion, Tommaso Ciampa.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Randy Orton revealed that he'll love to work with the Blackheart, and would also help him with his career:

As I was saying earlier, whatever Vince gives me to do, whatever my job is, in that particular situation, I’m going to do it. And, if it’s working with Tommaso Ciampa, then I’d be all for it because I think he’s very talented. And I think that there’s a few things that I could help him with. Mainly to help him get a little more out of his career. I know that he’s been plagued with injuries but I also know that he loves and respects this business.

Meanwhile, recently Tommaso Ciampa posted on his Instagram revealing that the WWE Creative has nothing for him. With him missing the last few NXT shows, it indeed looks to be the case. Can this all be a way for him to make his way to the main roster?

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Randy Orton would be an amazing feud and match, if WWE goes ahead with it.

#4 Triple H returns and confronts Randy Orton

In the last few months, Randy Orton has taken out several WWE legends, including Edge, Christian, and most recently, The Big Show. While there wasl speculation of him turning on Ric Flair and hitting him with the Punt Kick as well, the Nature Boy will probably be away from WWE Programming for the time being, taking him out of the equation.

As mentioned earlier, RAW has been drawing poor ratings for the last several weeks. While the show hasn't been great, part of the reason for the low ratings is the lack of many big names due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

So who can WWE call back and get more eyes on RAW? Don't they have a certain Hall of Famer backstage handling everything who is also a huge name who could be used at SummerSlam? That would be The Game, Triple H.

Hunter and Randy Orton have a huge past, feuding against each other in some ruthless rivalries, and also teaming up in Evolution. Can Triple H confront Randy Orton on RAW to ask him to stop his actions, only to be met by a Punt Kick from Orton?

#3 Randy Orton targets Kevin Owens

When looking at the current WWE roster, most of the major babyfaces are already involved in rivalries ahead of WWE SummerSlam. Ideally, Randy Orton could go after a legend like Rey Mysterio, but his and Dominik's feud with Seth Rollins is surely not over. Even Aleister Black is involved in that feud. Samoa Joe could be a huge surprise if he decides to make his in-ring return, but he is probably not cleared to compete.

But that still leaves Kevin Owens. Even after picking up a massive victory over Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 36, WWE Creative doesn't seem to have any plans for Owens. While he could certainly get involved in the Mysterio-Rollins feud, there are already enough Superstars as part of it.

But what if Randy Orton attacks Kevin Owens, setting up a feud between the two? Remember, it was Owens who confronted Randy Orton earlier this year after he viciously attacked Edge. That led to a match between the two, but interference from Rollins and his disciples assured there was no proper finish.

Could Kevin Owens step-up and decide to confront this Legend Killer?

#2 Randy Orton sets his eyes on WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre

One of the likeliest names that Randy Orton could target next is the WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre. There have been several rumors and reports about WWE planning a match between McIntyre and Randy Orton at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship, with Orton probably even defeating him and becoming the new WWE Champion.

The only concern with this is that Randy Orton is scheduled to kick-off RAW. If he announces Drew McIntyre as his next target, that would take away the entire focus from the WWE Champion's match against Dolph Ziggler later in the night.

But WWE can always book Randy Orton to come out and praise himself to kick-off RAW, but not announce any name, keeping the fans guessing. He could then show up after or during the McIntyre-Ziggler match and take out the WWE Champion with the three most devastating letters in WWE — RKO.

Randy Orton is arguably the best contender to challenge Drew McIntyre for his WWE Championship. Whether or not Orton should win and become the new WWE Champion, it cannot be denied that he has been one of the best parts of RAW during this entire empty-arena era of WWE.

#1 Randy Orton calls out John Cena for "one last match"

Throughout his WWE career, Randy Orton has been compared to the longtime poster boy of WWE, John Cena. The two started their WWE careers at the same time, are great friends backstage, and have had one of the most iconic rivalries in WWE history. While John Cena is famous for his record 16 World Championships, Randy Orton isn't far behind either.

With SummerSlam around the corner and RAW ratings going down continuously, could WWE pull out a huge surprise on RAW and let Orton call out John Cena for "one last match?" Of course, if this does happen, we might see fans joking about these two having their 1876th match together, but it would surely ensure more fans tune in to see the product.

John Cena might not be a full-time Superstar anymore, but we all know he has the ability to get mainstream eyes on the product, something RAW desperately needs. While it all depends on the availability of the Leader of Cenation, the WWE Universe should never say never. Even in 2020, Randy Orton vs. John Cena is a big draw, especially with Orton bringing out this Legend Killer version of himself.
