5 WWE Superstars who should be replaced from the Elimination Chamber matches in 2021

The Elimination Chamber 2021 pay-per-view will feature two matches inside the massive steel structure. As you know, the Elimination Chamber is a lot different from the traditional steel cage or Hell in a Cell.

We've seen several Elimination Chamber classics over the last 18-plus years, with the brutality of it captivating WWE fans. While the padding inside the Elimination Chamber has slightly taken away from the previously-seen brutality, the argument of Superstars' safety holds more weight, especially in this day and age.

This Sunday, there will be two matches inside the Elimination Chamber. Drew McIntyre will defend the WWE Championship against five former WWE Champions.

On the other hand, SmackDown will see an Elimination Chamber match where the winner faces Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship later that night.

We can only assume that the SmackDown Elimination Chamber match will open the show, while the Universal Title bout against Roman Reigns will headline it.

Here are five Superstars who can or should be replaced inside the Elimination Chamber this Sunday:

#5. Kevin Owens - Continues to be in the Universal Title picture at Elimination Chamber

Kevin Owens has been at the forefront of SmackDown.

WWE fans seem tired of seeing Kevin Owens continuously challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. While it seemed like Royal Rumble 2021 would be the final time he competed for the Universal Title for a while, he is again in the Championship picture at Elimination Chamber.

In fact, he was one of the first two contestants announced for the Elimination Chamber match. While he is undoubtedly worthy of competing inside the Elimination Chamber, WWE should have had something else for him on the pay-per-view.

It would have been okay if he was absent from it as well, especially since he has been competing for the Universal Championship these last few months.

#4. Jeff Hardy - Has no momentum heading into Elimination Chamber

Jeff Hardy is a big name and a WWE legend, which is why we can partly understand the reason for him being inside the Elimination Chamber match. But lately on RAW, there hasn't been anything going for him.

At the very least, there should have been an active storyline in place ahead of Elimination Chamber, as most of his competitors are involved in one storyline or the other.

Jeff Hardy's name value may be enough. But since the theme of Drew McIntyre's title defense is the fact that he is facing five former WWE Champions, The Charismatic Enigma technically qualifies.

But the fact of the matter is that he has no momentum heading into the Elimination Chamber match, unlike a Superstar like Sheamus. Moreover, he isn't the best option either, especially since it's certain that he won't be walking out of the match as the WWE Champion.

If anything, Jeff Hardy has the highest chance of being the first man eliminated from the Elimination Chamber match.

#3. King Corbin - Added to the Elimination Chamber due to a lack of better options?

King Corbin

King Corbin has been a mainstay on SmackDown and has Elimination Chamber Experience. Corbin has also been involved in important programs, but for some reason, it's hard to see him move up the card.

Even ahead of the Elimination Chamber match, it's hard to see King Corbin as anything more than an upper mid-card Superstar. It's not a knock on him since most WWE Superstars have a fixed role, and that's how it plays out for most if not all of their careers.

King Corbin and Sami Zayn qualified for the Elimination Chamber match at Dominik and Rey Mysterio's expense. Seeing the father-son duo inside the Elimination Chamber would have made for a much more interesting story. However, we admittedly feel that Sami Zayn is deserving of his spot.

King Corbin, on the other hand, not so much. Rather than a tag team qualifier on SmackDown, it would have been better to have individual qualification matches, with Dominik Mysterio being a more exciting name than Corbin for The Elimination Chamber.

#2. Jey Uso - An interesting but unnecessary addition to Elimination Chamber

How will things play out?
How will things play out?

Jey Uso is certainly an interesting addition to the Elimination Chamber match. As you may know, Jey Uso was Roman Reigns' first Universal title challenger in 2020. Uso got brutalized for two pay-per-view matches before aligning with his cousin.

Along with Kevin Owens, Jey Uso was announced to be a part of the Elimination Chamber match. Had Roman Reigns been defending the title inside the Elimination Chamber, then Jey Uso wouldn't have been on this list. But looking at the possible scenarios that could play out, what could come of it?

Jey Uso could win the Elimination Chamber match and once again become a challenger to Roman Reigns on the same pay-per-view. What happens next? Does Jey Uso lie down and take the fall for his cousin, or does he get brutalized, as we've already seen?

Since the Elimination Chamber match is a number one contender's bout, Jey Uso's addition to it isn't as appealing. He could also be there to take the fall for the eventual winner of the Elimination Chamber match.

#1. Randy Orton - Too deeply involved in another storyline ahead of Elimination Chamber

While we admit that this is a controversial entry, there's a reason why Randy Orton can be replaced in the Elimination Chamber match. Randy Orton has the experience, the pedigree, and it makes a lot of sense for him to be in the Elimination Chamber match.

But as with some of the other competitors, it's easy to tell that he won't be walking out as the WWE Champion. There could be a scenario where he wins the Elimination Chamber match and defends the WWE title against The Fiend Bray Wyatt in a WrestleMania rematch. But it's not a bout that needs a title on the line.

Many argue that The Fiend is a character that simply doesn't need to have a Championship to be legitimate, and it's a fair argument.

But given how deeply engrossed Randy Orton is in his storyline with Alexa Bliss (and Bray Wyatt), the obvious outcome seems to be one of the two appearing inside the Elimination Chamber to cost him his 15th World Championship.
