RAW Preview: Multi-time World Champion to suffer a humiliating defeat, New Champion to be crowned? (July 19th, 2020)

An intense night for the Champions

Welcome to this week's edition of RAW preview! It's the RAW after Extreme Rules 2020 and it certainly was an interesting PPV that delivered beyond expectations. While not a whole lot has been announced for RAW, we'll be following up on the matches and feuds from Extreme Rules that will play out on Monday Night RAW.

Without dragging it much further, let's start with an unsanctioned match between two legends on RAW!

#5. Randy Orton vs Big Show - Unsanctioned match on RAW

Not long after Randy Orton defeated Edge in 'The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever' at Backlash 2020, he was confronted by another multi-time World Champion - Big Show.

The multi-time World Champion didn't take too kindly to Randy Orton and his despicable actions - injuring Edge while also sending Christian to the hospital one night later in an unsanctioned match. Ric Flair did everything in his power to try and persuade Big Show to not take a match against Randy Orton, but the WWE legend realized that it was an attempt at manipulation.

Randy Orton, who's taken it to the next level in the pandemic era, is looking to continue his streak of ruthlessness and we could see the legend killer tonight as he puts to rest another legend of the business.

However, Big Show is a physically imposing figure and won't be easy to take down. Regardless, the unsanctioned stipulation will play to Randy Orton, who will look to use his punt kick the minute he has the World's Largest Athlete down on the ground.

We expect Big Show to suffer a humiliating defeat. Whether or not it's the end of the road for him, we can't tell. But it's going to be interesting to see how it plays out on RAW.

#4. What's the United States Championship status?

Apollo Crews was expected to face MVP in a defense of the United States Championship last night at WWE Extreme Rules 2020. However, MVP revealed that the match was pulled from the card after Apollo Crews failed to pass a "physical test" of sorts.

MVP then went on to claim that he's the true United States Champion and with the incredible new belt around his waist, he seems to truly believe that as well. Of course, we know that MVP only defeated Apollo Crews in a non-title match on RAW.

With rumors (via WON) that Apollo Crews has tested positive for COVID-19, there's a chance that MVP could be promoted to the undisputed United States Champion.

Otherwise, he might become the "interim" Champion and we'll have a title change by default on RAW. We hope that isn't how it plays out, but we wouldn't be surprised since Apollo Crews would have to isolate for 14 days minimum going forward.

#3. Is this the end of the road for Rey Mysterio?

It looks like it's going to be a while before we see Rey Mysterio back in a WWE ring. For all we know, Extreme Rules 2020 may just have been the end of the road for him. Seth Rollins managed to gouge Mysterio's eye out and looked away in disgust after realizing what he did.

Mysterio was then escorted out by the staff and his son Dominik, who has had an increasing presence on Monday Night RAW. It's no secret that Dominik is training to become a wrestler, having trained under the veteran Lance Storm for quite a while.

He's also gotten involved with his father Rey Mysterio in his feuds against Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins and all of that has led to the inevitable conclusion that his WWE debut is drawing nearer. At this point, it's just a matter of 'when' and not 'if' he debuts.

While we can't imagine it happening just yet, don't be surprised to see him confront Seth Rollins all by himself on RAW.

#2. The Asuka-Sasha Banks controversy

If you haven't watched Extreme Rules just yet, we'll give you a quick recap of the controversial RAW Women's Championship match. As you know, Sasha Banks faced Asuka for the RAW Women's title in what turned out to be an exciting contest.

As expected, SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley made her presence known and had a big role to play in the finish of the match after Asuka accidentally spat green mist into the referee's eyes. Bayley smacked Asuka from behind with the Women's Tag Team title and usually, there is another referee that comes in.

This time, Bayley put on the referee's shirt herself, counted the pin, handed the Championship to Sasha Banks, and demanded the timekeeper to ring the bell. It was all so odd, but WWE confirmed that Asuka is still the Champion. Sasha Banks is merely in possession of the title and we expect her to make her presence known on RAW again, possibly setting up a SummerSlam program.

#1. What's next for Drew McIntyre?

Drew McIntyre might just deserve the night off. Dolph Ziggler had the right to choose a stipulation for his WWE title challenge against Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules.

Seeing that there was no Extreme Rules match on the card, Ziggler decided to change that - but with a twist. It was an Extreme Rules match only for him and if Drew McIntyre were to get counted out or disqualified, he would lose the WWE Championship.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Drew McIntyre would face his old tag team partner in another solid WWE title match and he walked out victorious as expected.

The build to WWE SummerSlam begins tonight and it's going to be interesting to see who steps up to challenge him. Could we see the return of Brock Lesnar? Or will Drew McIntyre get a week off before Randy Orton potentially challenges him next week? Either way, we have a feeling that Drew McIntyre's next WWE title defense will be his toughest yet.
