WWE Monday Night RAW 17th February 2014 - Superstar ratings

There wouldn’t have been many fans in the WWE universe that might’ve seen the company pulling off one of the best matches of the year this week along with providing some exciting buildup for the Elimination Chamber on Sunday.

Randy Orton once again fell while running the gauntlet when the other contestants in the Elimination Chamber match stole the show. Christian and Daniel Bryan provided a well worked contest with Kane pushing the story hard.

The storyline between the Wyatt Family and Shield also reached undefined heights but the show belonged to Cesaro and John Cena. In a match that saw the crowd rooting for each and every move, Cesaro showed glimpse that he has the potential to be the next face of the company while Cena showed that he could deliver excellent matches as well.

However, there was nothing worth remembering in the mid card as most of them were matches thrown randomly at the will of the writers. To sum up the show was better than last week’s show in many dimensions. So let’s take a look at how the wrestlers faired with the Superstar ratings.

Santino Marella – 3/10

Santino Marella

Santino Marella

Just when you thought that we were done with Fandango and Santino Marella matches, the WWE threw in another one into a hot crowd which was still recovering from the Kane- Daniel Bryan match.

There were no signs of epicness at any point of the match as it only served the purpose of pushing the Emma storyline further. Santino was made to look bad once again but then again you can’t expect a lot from the writers who doesn’t even give Dolph Ziggler some good booking.

Los Matadores and Sin Cara – 3.5/10

Sin Cara

Sin Cara

An exciting trio in the card, Los Matadores and Sin Cara unfortunately ended up in the wrong end of a squash match this week.

The efforts of the trio were no match to the power and skills of the creepy guys as nothing needs to be said about their performance. They didn’t even look graceful in the defeat which leaves nothing to cheer about here.

Fandango – 4/10

Fandango

Fandango

From the guy who defeated Chris Jericho in his WrestleMania debut to the guy who is confined as a support character for a diva’s push, the fall of Fandango has been monumental.

He still is booked ridiculously by the creative team and this was there to be seen when the Emma- Summer Rae cat fight took over the fans rather than Fandango’s win over Santino. Even though he won, there wasn’t anything worth remembering on this one.

Mark Henry – 5/10

Mark Henry

Mark Henry

Henry’s run as a high profile jobber continued he fell prey to an emerging Roman Reigns this week. Last week’s embarrassment also repeated when Dean Ambrose pounced on the World’s Strongest Jobber after the match ended with a spear from Reigns.

He seems to be buried deeper and deeper as weeks go by and there is only a slim chance of Henry even making it into the WrestleMania card.

Randy Orton – 6/10

Randy Orton

Randy Orton

The reigning unified champion hit another roadblock this week in the form of a Celtic Warrior. Gauntlet of Chamber opponents seems to be a mess for Orton as he is not getting any sort of benefit from these matches.

He heads into the chamber as a viper that is down and dead which opens the door for him to snatch a surprise win. Till then Orton is riding low much to the dismay of the portion which follows him.

Big E Langston – 6.5/10

Big E Langston

Big E Langston

The Intercontinental champion got a handicap match win over the two members of 3MB this week. However, there was nothing exciting about the match as it felt been there done that kind of encounter.

Langston seems to have gained back the consistence he lost some time ago which is a good thing to see. But that main event status the company rested on him during that period is nowhere to be seen as the WrestleMania approaches rapidly fast.

The New Age Outlaws – 6.5/10

The New Age Outlaws

The New Age Outlaws

Not a great week in terms of win-loss record for the tag team champions, but they did what they usually do every week in and week out.

Billy Gunn and Road Dogg entertained the fans both inside the ring and with the microphone. They look great as champions taking everything in a funny way which makes them worth seeing rather than tuning into some midcarders thrown into the ring randomly.

The Usos – 7/10

The Usos

The Usos

They have a secure tag titles shot in their pocket for the Elimination Chamber and this week one half of the tag team scored a win over one half of the Champions.

This win adds more to the already sky high momentum of Rikishi’s sons as they look determined to add to their father’s collection of tag team titles.

Kane – 7/10

Kane

Kane

Kane flourished at both sides of the coin this week. His evil authority character being ripped open by the big red monster inside was a treat for the fans to see.

There wasn’t anything spectacular about his match with Daniel Bryan however but the post-match beating reminded us about what we are missing. There is more to come from Kane because this clearly is a start.

Sheamus – 7.5/10

Sheamus

Sheamus

The Celtic Warrior got a much needed win this week against the WWE Champion Randy Orton. Sheamus was riding low on momentum after the defeat to Shield on SmackDown but a big win at the Raw main event hold his head high.

Chamber will hold many more surprises for him as for now he heads as the man who gave the final nail to Randy Orton’s coffin.

Christian – 7.5/10

Christian

Christian

No one expected Christian to show his dark side this week against Daniel Bryan and this unexpected turn gave Captain Charisma some relevance before heading into the Chamber match.

Though he lost out against Bryan, Christian was protected well by the booking maybe because Bryan had to wrestle twice that night. However, this was a blessing for the veteran as his momentum was least effected by the loss.

The Wyatt Family – 7.5/10

Wyatt Family

Wyatt Family

While their opponents, the shield got Mark Henry as their jobber, the Wyatt Family were given Los Matadores and Sin Cara.

The plan might’ve been to make look the Wyatts more dominating and cruel by giving a minor opponent but it didn’t work out well as planned.

However, they covered for the miss by delivering their usually brilliant promos again leaving everyone speechless thinking about what they will witness at the Elimination Chamber when these two trios clash.

The Shield – 8/10

The Shield

The Shield

The Hounds of justice had another appointed in squashing Mark Henry this week before locking horns with the Wyatt Family.

None would’ve bet against Mark Henry winning against Roman Reigns which made his win a predicable one. The physical contact between the Wyatts and the Shield propelled their feud to another level of anticipation.

The six man tag match at the Elimination Chamber is sure to steal the show even with a match card that has the lights of Batista, John Cena, Randy Orton and many more.

Daniel Bryan – 8/10

Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan

The flying goat had to put on double duty this week when he faced both Christian and Kane in successive matches. The win against Christian however was overshadowed by the antics of the big red monster which casted doubts over Bryan entering the Chamber.

Bryan looked strong both in the win and beating but the possibility of him not winning the title at Chamber poses a great dilemma in front of the WWE fans.

The Real Americans – 9/10

The Real Americans

The Real Americans

Another great week for the Real Americans as Cesaro stamped his future as a main eventer while Jack Swagger gained a good win to build momentum before his Elimination Chamber showdown with Big E Langston.

Cesaro was part of one epic match against John Cena and stole the show. He stood out better than Swagger as usual. Zeb Colter will be one happy man as his boys are heading from greatness to greatness as each week pass by.

John Cena – 9/10

John Cena

John Cena

Just when you thought that Cena was down and out he rose from the ashes and gave a memorable performance. The ones who criticized Cena for winning every match without much of an effort must’ve felt bad about themselves seeing him perform like that this week.

There is a lot of momentum riding on Cena as he heads into the chamber and he is sure to carry that to any feud that he heads into.

A great performance from out of nowhere makes Cena the top superstar of this week and he truly deserves to be so.

What makes Sting special? His first AEW opponent opens up RIGHT HERE.
