In today's roundup, we take a look at why Vince McMahon was against The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels, backstage news on RAW vs SmackDown for Bray Wyatt, what happened after RAW went off-air and more!

First, let's start with the two big headlines of the day:

Kane reveals hilarious first gimmick name

Kane is one of the most legendary Superstars in the history of WWE and his name is enough to get the WWE Universe excited. However, Glenn Jacobs has revealed that WWE were not planning on using that name at the start.

Talking about his debut in the latest episode of WWE Untold, Kane revealed that 'Inferno' was first pitched as his name when the storyline with The Undertaker was to begin. Luckily, Bruce Prichard was a big fan of the name Kane and used it instead. The Big Red machine said:

“I remember initially they wanted to name the character ‘Inferno’, which I was like, ‘Inferno? That ain’t good at all’ but Bruce Prichard had always been a fan of the name ‘Kane’. In fact, Undertaker was originally a man named Kane and Bruce’s son is named Kane.”

RAW Superstar officially undergoes name change

Baron Corbin won the King of the Ring tournament last week on Monday Night RAW and during his coronation ceremony on SmackDown Live, he was attacked by Chad Gable, the man who was pinned in the tournament final.

Last night, Corbin had his name officially changed to King Corbin and that will be a part of his gimmick from now on. It is very similar to how Booker T had his name changed to King Booker when he won the King of the Ring tournament.

Apart from the name change, Corbin also came out to new theme music and also a new cloak as the old red one was torn apart by Gable on SmackDown Live.

What happened after RAW went off air?

Monday Night RAW went off air today when Bray Wyatt attacked Braun Strowman during his match against Seth Rollins. The Fiend came out of nowhere to lay his hands on the Monster Among Men and left the ring straight away.

However, after RAW went off air, The Fiend made his way back to the ring for his dark match against Rollins. Wyatt went for the Sister Abigail straight away but it was countered by the Architect.

Rollins then went on to deliver a Curb Stomp but it was not sold by The Fiend. 3 Superkicks and 3 more Stomps later, Wyatt was finally on the mat but the lights went off and Bray was nowhere to be seen when they came back on.

Seconds later, Becky Lynch's music hit and Rollins made his way backstage. The Man and Charlotte Flair teamed up to beat Sasha Banks and Bayley in the 2nd dark match of the night.

Major possible spoiler for Kofi Kingston vs Brock Lesnar

Kofi Kingston vs Brock Lesnar has been announced for Friday Night SmackDown's debut on the FOX Network next week. The match will be for the WWE World Heavyweight championship but it looks like WWE have inevitably spoiled it for the fans.

As per the WWE Live Event match card for their Australia Tour in late October, Kofi is set to defend his WWE Championship against Randy Orton. The tour takes place from the 21st to the 23rd of October with shows taking place at Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

With the championship match announced for the Live Event, it is clear that Kofi will retain his title against Brock Lesnar next week. However, the cards are subject to change and we could still see the Live Event match take place without the title on the line.

It would be a huge surprise if Kofi actually manages to retain the title on SmackDown next week and that could well and truly receive a massive pop from the WWE Universe in the arena.

Backstage news on RAW vs SmackDown for Bray Wyatt

The WWE draft is set to take place next month and it would not be a surprise if the #1 pick ends up being Bray Wyatt. The Fiend is the hot property right now in WWE and has been the main attraction for fans in the past couple of months.

WrestleVotes now report that FOX Network are keen on getting Wyatt on SmackDown in the draft. However, Monday Night RAW's Paul Heyman is a big fan of the former Wyatt family leader and is likely to retain him on the red brand.

Wyatt has targetted Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman in the last 2 weeks and has already got a match for the WWE Universal title at Hell In A Cell. The Monster Among Men is not a part of the match right now but with the attack at the end of RAW last night, he could be added to the mix soon.

Why Vince McMahon never wanted The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels

The latest episode of ‘WWE Untold’ was one of the best ever! The Undertaker and Kane featured and they revealed some of the best-kept secrets on the show.

Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker never faced each other on WWE TV from 1990 to 1997 but often competed in dark matches. Revealing the real reason behind it, HBK said it was all because of Vince McMahon.

“Prior to this storyline between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, there had been times over the years when people within the WWE had presented, ‘How about Shawn Michaels, the Heartbreak Kid, against The Undertaker?’ and, of course, at the time, Vince McMahon was very emphatic about, ‘Those two will never be in the ring with each other’.”

WWE Producer, Bruce Prichard added:

“You have these two strong personalities, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, that when they collide… what is the finality of that? Because you have to keep both guys whole, you have to keep both of those attractions strong.”
