WWE Smackdown May 2, 2014 - Results

Kansas city experienced that last Friday night Smackdown before the WWE goes extreme this Sunday at Extreme Rules pay-per-view. The Wyatt family were involved in action before Bray Wyatt’s steel cage encounter at the PPV against John Cena while the first-ever “WeelC” contract signing took place. Dean Ambrose was lined up against three opponents in a US title defence match while Daniel Bryan and Kane vowed to take each other to the depths of hell come this Sunday.

Here are the results from the May 2nd edition of Smackdown.

The Wyatt Family vs Sheamus & The Usos

Smackdown opened with a six-man tag team battle with The Wyatt Family going against Sheamus and The Usos. It was a hard fought encounter between the two teams with the Celtic Warrior taking a lot of punishment when the Wyatts cornered and preyed on him.

But a wearied Sheamus found some breathing space when he was able to tag in Jimmy Uso who gained some momentum for his team. The came a point where all the six men engaged in a commotion after which Bray tagged himself cleverly into the match and delivered Sister Abigail on Jimmy to pick up a win which will certainly add to the worries of his Extreme Rules opponent John Cena.

WeelC contract is signed between Hornswoggle and El Torito

With 3MB and and Los Matadores in their corner, Vicky Guerrero conducted the contract signing of Hornswoggle and El Torito who will be involved in the first-ever WeelC match at Extreme Rules. Termed as the “greatest match of the century”, the two unique characters put pen into paper but not without commotion as Hornswoggle received The Gore from Torito before a disoriented 3MB were laid to rest by the raging pint-sized bull.


Rob Van Dam vs Jack Swagger

Smackdown announcers were joined by Paul Heyman and his new client Cesaro as Jack Swagger and RVD squared off in a one-on-one match. The fight carried on outside the ring where Swagger executed a suprise move on his former team-mate knocing the Swiss down.

However, Cesaro got back at Swagger by distracting him which led to RVD executing Five-Star Frog Splash and picking up a victory. Heyman’s new client had the last laugh as he delivered a Neutralizer on RVD.

Alexander Rusev vs R-Truth

The Belgian Brute was scheduled for another match against R-Truth but Xavier Wood’s interruption turned the fight into a two-on-one encounter. Rusev picked up a victory via disqualification and retreated from the ring after he was tossed over by his two fuming opponents.

Daniel Bryan and Kane ready to visit hell

Daniel Bryan came out and addressed the followers of the Yes movement that Kane has taken their rivalry to new heights and sworn on his newly wedded wife Brie Bella that he would do anything to protect his family even if it required him to go down the depths of hell to do that.

His speech was cut short when Kane appeared on the Titantron and explained the World Champion how frightening a journey to the Underworld can be- a place that suits the 7-foot monster. Bryan, who had his neck brace on, removed it, symbolizing that he is ready to face his fears this Sunday.


Dolph Ziggler vs Damien Sandow

After a public humiliation at the hands of Wolverine on Monday night Raw, Damien Sandow couldn’t seem to get out of his X-men Magneto wardrobe as he faced off against Dolph Ziggler. He failed to generate his magnetic powers as Ziggler performed the Zig Zag move to pick up a victory over Sandow.

Big E Langston vs Titus O’Neil

Titus O’Neil squared off against the Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston in an intense encounter which saw Lanston declared as the winner via disqualification. O’Neil, failing to heed to the referee’s plea, was brutally beaten down by a frustrated Big E which does raise questions about his chances against Bad News Barret ahead of Extreme Rules.

Dean Ambrose vs Ryback, Alberto Del Rio & Curtis Axel

Dean Ambrose defended his title in a fatal four way match which served as the main event match for the night. With Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins banned from ringside, Ambrose emerged victorious against Ryback, Curtis Axel and Alberto Del Rio to retain his championship against all the odds.

After the match, RybAxel looked to take their frustrations out on the secluded Shield member, until Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins arrived and delivered swift justice that ended with a Triple Powerbomb on Axel.
