Laxman, Srikkanth and Moody in top roles for Sun Risers

Former India players VVS Laxman and Kris Srikkanth have been appointed the mentors of the new Hyderabad franchise Sun Risers while former Aussie player Tom Moody has been appointed as the coach.

Laxman retired from International cricket a few months back and he has previously represented the Deccan Chargers and Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the IPL.

Srikkanth was the ambassador for Chennai Super Kings in the first three seasons and he was the Chief National Selector until Sandeep Patil was appointed a few months.

Their roles have not been defined by the team management and it is said that it would be similar to Anil Kumble’s role with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Tom Moody has earlier coached the Kings XI Punjab side in the IPL.

There has been confirmation that the formal inauguration of the franchise and the appointments of their roles would take place in Hyderabad today. The logo of the Sun Risers will also be unveiled.

The Sun Risers, owned by the Chennai-based Sun TV Network, bought the franchise for 425 crores and has retained all the top players including Kumar Sangakkara, Dale Steyn, Ishant Sharma, JP Duminy and Cameron White.
