Kagurabachi chapter 42: Chihiro re-enters the vault to save the prisoners, as Kyora Sazanami loses his grip over Shinuchi

Kagurabachi chapter 42 was released on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 12 am JST in Weekly Shonen Jump issue #34. The chapter showcased Shinuchi's powers affecting Kyora Sazanami's mind, as he spoils the Rakuzaichi auction in a frenzied state. On the other hand, Chihiro had to run against time to save the remaining prisoners, with the subspace falling apart.

In the previous chapter, Kyora Sazanami demonstrated a wide range of insect-based abilities of the Shinuchi (Magatsumi), including the Spider, Dragon Fly, and Centipede against Chihiro Rokuhira. However, Hiyuki's timely arrival to the subspace saved Chihiro and allowed a counterattack.

Kagurabachi chapter 42: Hiyuki reveals her plans about Chihiro to Tafuku

Kagurabachi chapter 42 kicks off with a flashback scene, where Tafuku asks Hiyuki whether she truly wants to eliminate Chihiro after the mission. The Kamunabi sorcerer says she has to, otherwise the boy won't give up the Enchanted Blades.

Hiyuki thinks Tafuku is sympathizing with the boy, but the sorcerer reminds her that Chihiro won't ever point his blade toward Hiyuki. He enquires whether Hiyuki can kill someone with such conviction. Interestingly, the Flame Bone user regrets ending Chihiro's life in the past.

She couldn't kill him back then because he was being pitiful. However, the Kamunai sorcerer clearly tells Tafuku that she doesn't hold him in high regard like he does. That said, she momentarily wavers from her resolve while recalling Chihiro's words about saving the prisoners.

However, she soon recollects herself and thinks she must end Chihiro after carrying out the mission.

Kagurabachi chapter 42 then switches to the auction room, where the sorcerers from Kamunabi's Shinuchi bidding team observe Kyora and notice that he's slowly losing his grip. They wonder how he can wield the blade in such a condition.

Meanwhile, one of the Kamunabi sorcerers who has presumably witnessed the war, tells his juniors that what they saw of Shinuchi is nothing compared to what it can do. Suddenly, the crowd notices Kyora Sazanami's preview disappearing from the central stage.

Kagurabachi chapter 42: Kyora Sazanami's Shinuchi creates chaos in Rakuzaichi

Chaos follows in Kagurabachi chapter 42 as the crowd is unable to fathom what happened to Kyora on stage. Meanwhile, Kyora Sazanami battles an unknown entity inside his head, which tries to take over his consciousness.

He grunts and shouts to try and eradicate the thing that's trying to hijack his brain. Chihiro Rokuhira realizes that the Storehouse's subspace is crumbling with every second. He worries about the captives who are still inside the vault.

Hiyuki Kagari suggests they must kill Kyora Sazanami quickly. Kagurabachi chapter 42 then shows Chihiro and Hiyuki charging at Kyora. Yet suddenly, they realize they have been transported from the subspace to the Rakuzaichi auction room, along with Kyora.

Out of nowhere, the Sazanami clan head demonstrates Shinuchi's mysterious powers to create a garden of death flowers, where the spectators are caught. They realize that branches and flowers are growing from them. As a result, many die a cruel death. Kyora slowly loses his grip over Shinuchi and goes berserk.

Meanwhile, in Kagurabachi chapter 42, Shiba appears behind Hakuri. He observes the condition of the battle. Hiyuki reunites with Hakuri and Shiba and suggests they must end Kyora's life before it's too late.

However, Hakuri informs her that it would be unwise, considering Shinuchi's powers are greatly affecting the Storehouse's condition and it will soon be destroyed. If they kill Kyora, the Storehouse would immediately disintegrate, taking along with it the lives of the prisoners.

As a result, the only solution is for someone to go inside the vault and infuse each prisoner with their Spirit Energy so Hakuri can transfer them using his Storehouse powers. However, with Kyora at his limits, Hakuri feels the storehouse will only hold on for a few seconds.

As such, going into the sorcerer's Storehouse would be a suicide mission. That said, Chihiro remains undeterred. Even though Shiba implores him not to go inside the vault, the sorcerer cannot see the innocent lives ending because of the Enchanted Blades.

Kagurabachi chapter 42 shows Hakuri sending Chihiro Rokuhira inside Kyora Sazanami's Storehouse again to save the prisoners. The Enten-user notices Mr. Inazuma's elder sister, falling into the depths. The chapter ends with Chihiro diving to catch the girl's hand to save her from falling to death.
