With the release of To Be Hero X episode 10, the anime finally concluded the Lucky Cyan Arc. While the story itself wasn't as strong as the previous two story arcs, it pulled off the biggest shocker.

Until the previous arc, fans were left unprepared about what they could expect from the anime. However, after observing the series following a similar pattern with character deaths, the audience was certain the anime was going to feature another death.

To their surprise, even though it seemed like the anime was setting up Luo as the perfect sacrificial pawn for Lucky Cyan's story, the character survived.

As fans must remember, the first two story arcs of the To Be Hero X anime, catering to Nice and E-Soul's stories, saw one key character connected to the story arc's protagonist pass away tragically.

After hero Nice committed suicide, Lin Ling first took his place and later became a hero with his own identity. Just as it seemed like the story arc was ending on a good note, his romantic interest, Moon, was shot dead by E-Soul.

Meanwhile, Yang Cheng's story saw him become the New E-Soul due to his increasing Trust Value. As E-Soul's team was intimidated by the New E-Soul's popularity, they orchestrated Yang Cheng's death, only to mistakenly kill his friend Chao Shang. Later, the New E-Soul faced off against the original and killed him to become the undisputed E-Soul.

In both story arcs, the anime saw a key character connected to the protagonists (Moon and Chao Shang) and the original heroes (Nice and E-Soul) tragically meet their fate.

At the time, as the audience wasn't prepared for these deaths, fans were utterly shocked to see the anime going to such lengths to give its characters deep backstories. This led the audience to believe that the surprising deaths were going to be a recurring element in the series. Hence, they expected the same from the Lucky Cyan story arc. But surprisingly, the latest story arc featured no such deaths.

For the past few weeks, fans were certain that Luo was going to be the perfect sacrificial pawn for Lucky Cyan's tragic backstory. In fact, the story arc's final episode also featured a fight between Lucky Cyan and Luo that could have made the speculation true.

Luo believed that his parents died during the plane crash due to Cyan's powers. Hence, he attacked her, hoping to avenge his parents. Fortunately, To Be Hero X episode 10 saw Lucky Cyan reveal the truth behind her past to Luo at the right time.

With that, Luo finally realized that Cyan had not stolen his parents' luck during the plane crash. Instead, it was everyone's collective wish on the plane that saw Lucky Cyan survive the crash. Upon realizing this, Luo snapped out of his zombified state and reconciled with Cyan to conclude the story arc with a happy ending.

With that, To Be Hero X episode 10 again left fans with an unpredictable ending. Fans can only hope that the anime's future story arcs will be more predictable. But as it stands, the anime's staff seem to be doing too good a job to keep the audience on their toes.
