Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 53: The Gohtia's latest move rendered the mages' abilities useless
Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 53 opened with a monologue from Emma, where she reminisced about meeting Julius for the first time. Emma thought Julius was the kindest boy until she met him again at the academy, where the boy's warm heart had been replaced with ice.
It pained her to think that the kind boy she knew was no more. After the monologue, the chapter delved into Julius's death. Emma had pierced his chest with her wand, leaving him badly wounded. Julius cursed his fate and blamed it all on Will Serfort with a smile. At this moment, Julius urged Emma not to become like her brother, Ian.

Emma's monologue continued, where she believed Julius's actions had proven her wrong. He had never stopped being the boy she knew. According to Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 53, Julius had cast an ice seal on Emma, moments before his death, to save her from her Floralphagia. Emma didn't know who was responsible for melting his ice-encased heart, but she owed him her life.
That's why she wanted to head to the battlefield and make things right. On her way, she met Adjutant Filvis and Lephia, who gave her a dagger. Lephia said that she and Filvis had their hands tied with other duties, so they couldn't help her. Yet, they hoped the dagger would help her. Meanwhile, Charles blew up the Castle's first wing, causing a pandemonium among the mages.

Many mages prioritized tending to the wounds of their injured companions. Seeing the mages frantically running around in fear, Shade became delirious with delight. Meanwhile, Will Serfort and Lihanna discovered that Charles was one of the puppets working under Shade. Will was worried about the Caulis Panel being in serious danger, especially if the Gohtia had taken out Kreutz.
He desperately searched for a strategy he could implement. At that moment, in Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 53, the reinforcements from the Ice faction arrived. Shade identified them as "little rats" who hung around the "Ice Prince," referring to Julius. Jhorua and Lunais were overcome with anger, and they wanted to annihilate Shade.

However, something unexpected happened, which spoiled their plans. On Shade's signal, Morta and others from Gohtia cast a barrier imbued with the power of Sleym, the Sleym Magland.
The barrier stripped the mages of their abilities to demonstrate magic, unless they had a special Sleym of their own, which Shade did. The other mages felt it was only a matter of time before Charles destroyed the Caulis Panel.

As the barrier disrupted the magic flow within the mages, Will Serfort sought an answer. He realized that the first Stratum was a dead zone for anyone who uses magic. However, they still had another option: The Sword. Will took it upon himself to face Shade and others. Yet, Shade had a backup plan for Will Serfort.
She summoned Walth Oozes, a type of watery monster that nullifies physical attacks. Lihanna couldn't believe how a Gohtia member could command Mana creatures. Shade mentioned that it was thanks to Charles. Since the castle was under Gohtia's control, they let the creatures freely roam and wreak havoc around the streets.

Meanwhile, Will Serfort looked for the starting point of the barrier. He thought he could disable the barrier by getting rid of the caster. However, Shade shouted at him, saying he was too late. At that moment, in Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 53, Emma tried to pierce Shade from behind, using her dagger. However, the dagger did nothing to her.
Following that, Shade psychologically wounded Emma by reminding her of Julius's death. The puppeteer blamed the girl for being weak because she fell under her control. Shade also ridiculed Julius and called him a "loser." However, Emma refused to believe that. With slight tears in her eyes, she explained how she wouldn't be alive if it weren't for Julius.

Emma broke down in tears as he remembered Julius Reinberg, the warmest person she knew. That's why she refused to stand still and let a monster like Shade dictate the terms. Meanwhile, Shade was amused by Emma's outbursts. She told her to go ahead and call out to her friend, Julius, to save her again. Saying this, she charged at Emma with murderous intent.
Just then, Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 53 saw a mage donning Gohtia's uniform, perform Stella Colorus, a wide-scale ice magic. Shade was caught in the spell's range, as she breathed a deep anguish. One of the Gohtia puppets asked the unknown mage why he was doing such a thing.

At that moment, the mage unveiled his cloak. Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 53 saw an unexpected sight, as the mage was none other than Julius Reinberg. Will Serfort, Lihanna, the Ice faction members, Emma - everyone was stunned to see the ice mage alive. The chapter ended with Julius's heroic entry, as he rose from the dead.
Conclusion
Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 53 was a pleasant surprise for Julius fans, who lamented that their favorite character was dead. However, the chapter confirmed that he was truly alive. Although it's left unclear how he survived his fate, his return will turn the tide of the battle in the tower's favor.
