In the previous chapter, the Kamunabi organization fell into chaos as a result of Hishaku's planning. The Barrier-Keepers detected many Kamunabi members being reduced to "detonators." On the other hand, Hakuri was pushed into a corner. At that moment, he saw a familiar figure, Yoji Uruha, arrive to his rescue.

Kagurabachi chapter 82, titled Enten vs. Tobimune, began with Chihiro Rokuhira facing Seiichi Samura. Meanwhile, Rou arrived at the scene and observed Samura carrying two Enchanted Blades. Samura said the Hishaku sorcerer had already retreated, but was still contracted to the blade. He added that the sheath must have fallen two floors below.

Meanwhile, Chihiro Rokuhira couldn't believe Samura's immense progress. He was convinced the blind swordsman's revival wasn't a mere coincidence, but a deliberate effort. He wondered why he developed such an ability if it weren't for the sake of reviving anyone.

Chihiro recalled a previous conversation with Samura and realized that his original goal had always been to annihilate the threat posed by Shinuchi's Malediction. As such, he bore no hatred toward the Contracted Sword Wielders. At that moment, in Kagurabachi chapter 82, Chihiro asked Samura if Uruha was indeed alive.

Right after that, Kagurabachi chapter 82 delved into a flashback and shifted the perspective to Uruha, moments after his "revival." While lying on the hospital bed, the ex-Kumeyuri user recalled the devastating potential the Shinuchi Blade had. The only way to prevent it was to kill the Sword Saint.

However, that would mean the other Contracted Sword Bearers would die too, as they were connected to the Shinuchi's Life Contract. The Kamunabi refrained from killing the Sword Saint to spare the heroes' lives and sealed the Shinuchi blade to minimize the risk of another Malediction. To that end, Samura constantly had to live with the guilt that the Malediction could strike again.

That's why when Samura had fixated his mind to kill him, Uruha wondered whether his time was truly up. However, Samura told him before the duel that he would only eliminate his heroic side. Later, while lying in the pool of blood, Uruha noticed Samura changing his blade and activating the Suzaku. Thus, even though Uruha was killed, the flames of mercy were lit from his wounds.

The doctors were shocked to find the swordsman miraculously revived. After reviving, Uruha realized that he had truly died once and that his contract was severed. Meanwhile, in Kagurabachi chapter 82, Uruha recalled that Samura couldn't have used the same trick, i.e., severing the Life Contract by dying.

It's because, even with the spell implanted, it would die along with the user. Uruha then wondered if Samura truly intended to die alone. According to Kagurabachi chapter 82, Samura wanted to do away with the Life Contract, the Sword Master, and the risk of another Malediction—all of it alone.

Uruha wanted to get up, but he couldn't. Since his Eternal Contract was broken, his whole nervous system was trying to regenerate after being distorted for almost 18 years. The doctors believed it would take Uruha at least a few days before he could move again. However, Uruha was desperate to go out. He asked the doctors who would stop Samura.

One of the doctors informed him that Chihiro Rokuhira had joined the counter-samura force. Meanwhile, Uruha urged the doctors not to inform about his condition to the higher ups. He felt no harm in having a secret ace up their sleeve.

At that moment, Kagurabachi chapter 82 shifted the focus to the transformation user, who was bewildered to see Uruha alive. Uruha said he had already "lost," so he wanted to protect the place while they (referring to Chihiro) were away. Uruha had complete faith over Chihiro Rokuhira.

Right after that, Kagurabachi chapter 82 shifted the focus to Chihiro Rokuhira's battle against Samura. To answer his previous question, Samura asked Chihiro what would have happened if Uruha had been alive. Chihiro then enquired of Samura if he truly intended to die alone.

Samura said the possibility of another Malediction and its consequences were his greatest fear. He knew that Chihiro felt the same. That's why Samura thought the boy needn't stop him; he would kill the Sword Master. Chihiro replied that he indeed felt the same. He could understand Samura's desire to protect lives and prevent a calamity.

That's why Chihiro was willing to fight tirelessly to save Samura's life, too. However, the blind swordsman replied that only feelings won't stop the Malediction. Although Chihiro wanted to find another way to fight alongside Samura, the swordsman brushed it off, saying it was impossible.

Following that, in Kagurabachi chapter 82, Samura shut the door on Chihiro's face. At that moment, the narrator reminded the readers that the Iai White Purity Style technique entailed building up Spirit Energy to generate explosive energy. Samura loaded Suzaku's flames into his blade's sheath to take out Chihiro in a single blow.

Chihiro realized that his words won't hold any candle since the last time he lost against Samura brutally. That's why he had to show Samura his resolve with a powerful attack. Kagurabachi chapter 82 saw Chihiro Rokuhira charge his entire being into his blade for a strike.

They released the pressure simultaneously, resulting in a gigantic boom. Kagurabachi chapter 82 ended with Chihiro clashing the blade against Samura, initiating the Enten vs. Tobimune battle.

Although Kagurabachi chapter 82 wasn't action-heavy, it was nevertheless important to set up Chihiro Rokuhira's battle against Samura. The Enten user realized he had to prove his resolve by showcasing his strength.

On the other hand, the chapter revealed the secret of how Urua returned to life, and as many would have guessed, it was due to Samura activating the Flames of Mercy —Suzaku.
