Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55: Ellenor Ljos Alf steals the show with an overpowered ability

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55, titled Ashes Rise, was released on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 12 am JST on Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine's September issue and K-Manga digital service. The chapter showcased the might of Ellenor Ljos Alf as she performed a high-level magic spell on the guards. Ellenor's interference provided the mages with the much-needed opening and hope.

The previous chapter revealed how Julius Reinberg's fake death was staged. Furthermore, the chapter saw the Ice Faction mages counterattack against the Gohtia members using Anti-Sleym. When everything seemed perfect for the mages, the Gohtia gained the upper hand, with Charles infiltrating the Caulis Panel.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55: Ellenor's spell leads the mages' counterattack against the Gohtia

Picking up the events from the previous issue, Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55 opens with Charles reaching the Caulis Panel, leaving many injured mages behind. He embeds his wand within the panel and unlocks the seals of the seven gates, each belonging to an element.

With that, the Gohtia members begin to celebrate their victory. One of them states that the "War" has been nothing more than a grand distraction. According to Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55, the Gohtia's actual plan was to dispel the guards' partition, so that thousands of dangerous monsters, i.e., guards from each stratum, would start overflowing the tower and destroy it, along with the mages.

Will Serfort, Lihanna Owenzaus, and others begin to feel helpless, as they don't know how to prevent such an onslaught. Elsewhere, in Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55, Wignall yells at Colette and says they must hurry to the Caulis Panel and try to subdue the intruder. Yet, the Gohtia members remind them that it's meaningless, as the seals have already been released.

As soon as Charles unseals the partitions and disables the magical interceptors, evil beings from each stratum emerge in the Tower. Hope slowly dwindles for the mages, as they see no way to win against those creatures. Just then, in Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55, a solemn voice is heard, chanting a high-level fire-based magic spell.

Wignall seems to know whose voice it is, so he gasps in surprise. At this moment, a remote circle shoots from Wignall's collar on the ground. The chant intensifies, as many remote circles appear around the beings born from the darkness. The Gohtia members become horrified as they realize that it's a high-level spell from a Magia Vander.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55 then shows Ellenor Ljos Alf, the elven princess, demonstrating Rea Laevateinn, a high-level magic spell to eradicate every guard that emerged from the stratum. Massive pillars of fire erupt from the remote circles in every corner, reducing the guards to ashes.

What's more, Ellenor doesn't even appear on the battlefield but rather performs the grand incantation from the top of the tower. Will Serfort and others observe that Ellenor's flames have only targeted the guards and completely avoided the mages. Meanwhile, the elven princess seems calm and composed about the situation, sitting alone at the tower top.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55 ends with Ellenor Ljos Alf ordering the "lowborns" to dispose of the "writhing maggots."

Without a doubt, the major highlight of Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 55 was Ellenor Ljos Alf, who has finally showcased her powers. Although the spell she performed wasn't the strongest one in her arsenal, it was enough to exterminate the guards in one swoop.

Ellenor's grand incantation would surely dent the Gohtia's plan a bit, and it remains to be seen how they fight back from here. Moreover, the elven Magia Vander's actions have also given the mage an edge, as they can utilize the opening and push through. Yet, first of all, someone must stop Charles, who is still a major threat at the Caulis Panel.
