Actively pursuing a career as an ice hockey player, Sam Nestler is also a Sportskeeda reporter with over five years of experience covering the sport.

Sam has played hockey since he was six, and as a Dallas Stars fan, Sam grew up idolizing Mike Modano, while Marty Turco is another of his strong favorites. Ken Hitchcock tops his greatest coaches list.

Sam majored in Kinesiology and Sports Performance at Chapman University, and has interviewed several NHL players as a beat writer covering the Stars and New Jersey Devils. When writing, he relies a lot on his own experience as an ice hockey player and loves to be creative and go the extra mile.

When not writing, Sam is training or spending time with his family, and he credits watching the 2020 Winter Classic in person as his greatest experience of live hockey.
