James Tibbs is an American outfielder who currently plays for the Florida State Seminoles. He began his baseball career at Pope High School and led the school to a Georgia 6A State championship in 2018. He earned first-team All-State honours as a sophomore and junior. After a highly successful prep career, Tibbs chose to join Florida State for his collegiate baseball journey.
The Atlanta native earned the starting role right into his first year as a Seminoles outfielder. He started 45 of the 56 games he played and slashed .300/.411/.553 with 13 doubles, 10 home runs and 32 RBI. Last season as a sophomore, the 6-0, 204-pound athlete saw action in all 54 games and was the leading batter on the FSU roster. Tibbs slashed .338/.471/.682 and also hit 61 runs, 17 home runs, 43 RBI and 48 walks. He is a solid athlete with a powerful lower half and has entered the junior year of his college baseball career. Tibbs was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and is one of the top prospects for the 2024 MLB draft. He is ranked No.16 in this 2024 draft class by MLB Pipeline.
