Jamir Watkins is a guard for the Florida State Seminoles and plays as a redshirt sophomore in the 2024-2025 season. Watkins hails from Trenton, New Jersey, and attended Trenton Catholic High School. During his time at VCU, he earned a position in the 2020 VCU Academic Honor Roll. Transferring to Florida State helped Watkins hold numerous individual recognitions. He scored a career-high 34 points against Virginia Tech on March 13, 2024, and scored two 30-point games. The latter includes 30 points against Rice on November 9, 2024. He scored in nine games with at least 10 rebounds and rebounded 11 times against teams like Radford, Richmond, Colorado, Syracuse, Boston College, Miami, 3-9-24, and Virginia Tech. He won the 2023 Sunshine Slam MVP and also earned a spot in the All-Tournament Team. Watkins was named the 2023 ACC Player of the Week (Co) on November 27, and the 2023 Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week on November 28. He received the All-ACC Honorable Mention, and the ACC Academic Honor Roll recognition, and was named to the NABC Academic Honors Court in 2024. Watkins was also crowned the 2024 Mattress Firm Battleground 2K24 MVP.
Jamir Watkins had a remarkable career at Trenton Catholic. In over 73 games in his career, he has scored 1,212 points, averaging 16.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. As a senior, he scored 25 games with an average of 23.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 1.2 assists. NJ.com named him to the All-State Third Team and was the Mercer County MVP as well as the area Player of the Year by the Trentonian. Watkins led Trenton Catholic to three consecutive Mercer County Championships, scoring 588 points in his senior season. He recorded seven double-doubles, including a 26-point, 16-rebound game in a win over Rancocas Valley. His career-high was 47 points recorded against Allentown, where he also recorded 12 rebounds and six assists. He scored over 30 points in five games as a senior, including a 38-point game with 11 rebounds against Rutgers Prep. Watkins recorded double figures in every game that season.
