Joni Taylor, born on March 7, 1979, is one of the top American women's college basketball coaches who was announced as the eighth women's basketball head coach in Aggies history in 2022. As per USA Today, Joni Taylor has signed a five-year contract with the Texas A&M Aggies in 2022. According to her deal, she would be allowed to earn additional incentives on top of her annual compensation.

Joni Taylor Coaching History

Taylor's coaching journey began at Troy University in 2002 where he spent three years as an assistant coach before moving to Louisiana Tech in 2005. She also spent two years as an associate head coach at Alabama before spending one season with LSU as an assistant from 2010-2011. Taylor joined the Georgia coaching staff in 2011 as an assistant coach under Andy Landers and was promoted to associate head coaching position from 2012-15.

Following Landers’ retirement, Taylor took over the program as the second coach in the Bulldogs’ history. In her inaugural season, she led the Bulldogs to a 21-10 record. For the next seven seasons, Taylor took the program to four NCAA Tournaments and her efforts were rewarded with the SEC Coach of the Year award in 2021. After seven successful years and leading the Bulldogs to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments, Texas A&M hired Taylor away from Georgia in 2022. She became one of college basketball’s highest-paid coaches with a bumper-new contract.
