Eric Gentry is one of the highly-touted defensive players who will play in his senior year of college football with the USC Trojans. Gentry went to Saints Neumann Goretti High where he was a two-way player and played as both linebacker and defensive end. In his junior year, Gentry secured 15 sacks, two interceptions, and three fumble recoveries. Gentry did not participate in his senior year due to COVID-19 and later announced his commitment to Arizona State University.

The 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds’ linebacker chose to join a Pac-12 school over offers from Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Penn State among others. In his true freshman year, Gentry recorded 45 tackles, five tackles for loss, and one sack while appearing in 12 games. After just one season with the Sun Devils, Gentry transferred to USC in the fall of 2022. In his sophomore year as a Trojan, Gentry contributed heavily on the defense and racked up 71 tackles, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and one interception while appearing in 11 games with 19 starts. Last season, Gentry finished the year with 46 tackles, four tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and one interception, a significant drop from his breakout sophomore campaign. Despite several rumors of him entering the 2024 NFL Draft, Gentry is poised to play a huge role as a linebacker as a senior this season.
