During his high school career, he registered 80 tackles and four interceptions during his senior year. His performance earned him a spot in the prestigious 2020 All-American Bowl.

Malachi Moore's journey with the Crimson Tide began in 2020 when he became a starter during his true freshman year. He recorded 44 tackles, three interceptions, and a fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown. This performance not only earned him recognition as a Freshman All-American but also secured him a place on the SEC All-Freshman Team. In 2023, he started all 13 games and recorded 52 tackles, five for loss, along with an interception and several pass breakups. He was named to multiple watch lists for prestigious awards such as the Lott Trophy and Nagurski Trophy, which honor the best defensive players in college football. In his five-year spell with the Crimson Tide, Moore recorded 214 combo tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and seven interceptions, as per Sports Reference.
