Irfan Pathan was the answer to Pakistan's fearsome left-arm seamers in the early stages of his career. Pathan had a successful Indian career where he excelled as a left-arm swing bowler and also contributed with runs in the later stages of the game. Pathan was not able to replicate this form after sustaining injuries which hampered his career.

His major drawback was that he was not a successful IPL player. He had to make way for the younger generation in his Ranji team Baroda too. He is now the coach-cum-player for Jammu and Kashmir. As seen from the previous IPL seasons, Irfan has become a versatile commentator. His expert comments about left-arm seam bowling in the shortest format of the game have made the game very interesting to watch.

He will still be looking to play in the IPL next season with some good performances for J&K.
