Ambati Rayudu has been in blistering form

As the Indian team gets set to tour England for the ODI and T20I series, the selectors will be watching all the players and keeping track of their performances, to plan the squad for the 2019 WC.

There have been some spellbinding performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League, with a select few players rewarded for their displays with national call-ups. In order to cement their place in the World Cup squad for next year, the England tour will be used as a marker that will determine whether or not their performances truly earned them a place in the Indian team.

Here we take a look at three players who are outside bets at making the national team squad for next year's World Cup.

#3 Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu has been in sensational form of late and has been rewarded with a national team call-up. Rayudu has been in stellar form in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings and will be heading to the upcoming tour of England bursting with confidence.

Rayudu needs to put in some amazing displays to stake his claim for a spot in next year's World Cup team. A middle-order batsman, he can change the course of a game with his destructive hitting ability whilst at the same time add stability to the innings.

Rayudu has appeared in 34 ODIs for India, scoring more than 1000 runs.

#2 Ravichandran Ashwin

Australia v India - Game 1
Ashwin will be eager to win his place back

Indian spin wizard Ravi Ashwin has been a prolific wicket-taker in the national team for the last five years. However, recently, with the number of spinners competing for a spot in the side, Ashwin has felt the pressure and his form has dropped.

The 31-year-old right-arm spinner has picked up 10 wickets in 14 games with the KXIP in the IPL this season and has done a good job as captain. Ashwin is an experienced campaigner with tremendous knowledge of the game and good performances with the bat as well could boost his chances of regaining a spot.

Ashwin has appeared in more than fifty Tests, over hundred ODIs and over forty T20Is for India but is facing stiff competition from Chahal and Kuldeep for a spot in the national team.

#1 Rishab Pant

Pant has been in sizzling form
Pant has been in sizzling form

A member of India's Under 19 World Cup runner-up campaign in 2016, Rishab Pant has made a splash in the IPL this season with some breathtaking innings. Only 20 years old, the wicket-keeper batsman has an outside shot of making the World Cup squad.

Good consistent showings up until the World Cup will definitely boost his chances of securing a spot in next year's tournament. With Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik in the mix, Pant faces a hard task to break into the team.

Pant will look to capitalise on his form with performances in domestic cricket and maybe win over a few selectors. Pant is definitely a future Indian regular but he could speed the process up and cement his spot in the team with a strong showing in the coming year.
