4 overseas players from Mumbai Indians that are front-runners to join the starting XI

Mumbai Indians are the most successful IPL team so far after clinching three titles, that too in the last five seasons. After missing out on the services of Harbhajan Singh, Ambati Rayudu, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan, Parthiv Patel, Jos Buttler and many more, the Rohit Sharma-led team will rely upon some unfamiliar faces to support their core members. Out of their overseas quota from the last season, only Kieron Pollard has achieved to stick around with them. Here are the foreign players that might fit well in MI's on-field combination.

#1 Evin Lewis

Lewis has scored two T20I centuries against India

The ominous left-hander from the Caribbean, often acknowledged as the substitute of Chris Gayle who is at the tail-end of his IPL career, is set to make his IPL debut with Mumbai Indians. Evin Lewis likes to tear apart the opposition bowling-attack right from the word go.

The Bollywood City is going to witness early fireworks this time around, with the pitch suiting the southpaw. Having someone trustworthy like skipper Rohit Sharma batting in the middle-order will only encourage Lewis to go for the kill with full assurance.

#2 Kieron Pollard

He has hit the most number of sixes for MI

The hulking Trinidadian all-rounder, who made his debut for Mumbai Indians way back in 2010, has been a stellar performer in the IPL & MI has never taken the risk of letting him go to another franchise since then.

Kieron Pollard has rolled in more often than not for his team with his blistering batting during the crux & turned the tables upside down. Furthermore, he is an electrifying fielder, courtesy his reach and athleticism.

The absence of an experienced Indian batsman, barring their captain, puts a lot of weight on the 30-year-old's shoulders to finish games for MI along with the Pandya brothers.

#3 Pat Cummins

Cummins has played only 16 IPL matches so far

The fast bowler from Sydney came on the scene as one of the most appealing prospects in the Australian cricket, making his international debut as an 18-year-old in an away test against South Africa where he picked seven wickets including a splendid 6-wicket haul.

Pat Cummins is capable of bowling at a consistent pace of 145 kmph even on lifeless pitches & his subtle change-up delivery which he bowls at a snail-like speed of 110-120 kmph makes him lethal in T20 cricket. In addition to that, he is a capable lower order batsman who can use the long handle of the bat quite efficiently.

Cummins had a successful IPL season last year playing for Delhi Daredevils where he scalped 15 wickets from 12 games. The 24-year-old was roped-in by Mumbai Indians for a ritzy ₹ 5.4 crores following his recent form in the limited overs format for Australia.

#4 Jason Behrendorff

Jason Behrendorff's strength is to swing the ball in powerplay and pick up early wickets. The left-arm bowler is one of the most economical bowlers with the new ball in T20 cricket who can cater some variety in Mumbai Indians bowling attack.

Perhaps this reason is substantial enough for MI to partner him with Bumrah to take the new ball. They would want someone to provide early breakthroughs on batting-friendly Wankhede wicket where they play the majority of their matches & the 27-year-old can hit the bull's eye.

Touring India last October for T20Is, he made his point by bowling a match-winning spell, scalping big-fish Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey.
