Playing in IPL is considered as a dream for many and it needs immense hard-work and dedication to achieve that feat. Even though most of them have been able to fulfill it but they have failed to keep the momentum going.

It has become a new trend that any uncapped player who performs well in the IPL is given a chance to showcase his skills for the national team. There have been a lot of bowlers than batsmen in this criterion.

Here we will look at the bowlers who were selected due to impressive performances in the IPL but lost their place due to lack of form and might never get to play the cash-rich IPL again.

#5 Sudeep Tyagi

The tall and lanky seamer came into the limelight when he took match figures of 10/92 in his debut Ranji Trophy match. He was considered to be the next prodigy for India in the bowling department.

He finished the Ranji season as the highest wicket-taker and was selected in the Indian team against Australia in 2009.

But, he made his debut when India played Sri Lanka. He also got to play a total of 5 matches for the national setup which included 4 ODI's and a solitary T20 match. He failed to replicate his form with the national team and was dropped from the team.

He was bought by the Deccan Chargers for the 3rd edition of the IPL but it was by far his worst performance ever. His career was cut short due to regular injuries. He could regularly bowl above 140kph, which was a rarity for an Indian bowler at the time.

Out of the 6 matches he played, he took a single wicket with a very high economy of 10.04. He was with the Sunrisers Hyderabad until 2013 but never got a game. Since then, he has not been able to feature in the IPL.

#4 Parvinder Awana

Awana was selected for the T20 series against England in 2012.
Awana was selected for the T20 series against England in 2012.

Parvinder Awana, the right-arm pacer from Delhi was bought by the Kings XI Punjab ahead of the 2012 edition of the IPL at his base price.

He made his Ranji Trophy debut at an early age of 21 against Himachal Pradesh in 2007 and he took 12 wickets in 5 matches in his debut season.

His abilities to bowl sharp and move the ball off the pitch came to light when he made his debut in the IPL. Impressive performances in the IPL fetched him an international call-up for the T20 series against England.

He had a forgettable outing with the Indian team as he did not take a single wicket in the two matches he played and also conceded 71 runs with a very high economy of 11.83. He did not justify the faith of the selectors and since then he has not been considered by the selectors.

Since the 2015 edition of the IPL, he has not been able to find any franchise. He went unsold in the 2018 IPL auctions and it seems unlikely that he might return to the IPL.

#3 Abhimanyu Mithun

Abhimanyu Mithun made his ODI debut against South Africa in 2010.

Like the other bowlers previously mentioned, he too came in the reckoning on the back of impressive performances for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy. He scalped 47 wickets in his very first Ranji Trophy season which also included a hat-trick raising the eyebrows of the selectors.

Sooner or later, he was always on the verge of a national call-up and it got delayed due to injuries. He made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in 2010 and he took figures of 4/105 and was greatly lauded by the team management and the selectors.

His weakness of not varying the pace overshadowed his strength of bowling fast. Lack of variations and wicket-taking abilities in his bowling paved way for other bowlers and he gradually declined.

In the IPL, he is used to warming the bench in the recent past as he last featured in an IPL match in 2013. He was with Sunrisers Hyderabad until the 10th edition of the IPL. He was unsold in the 2018 IPL auctions and he will need to perform extremely well to find an IPL franchise again.

#2 Parvez Rasool

Parvez Rasool made his T20 debut against England in Kanpur.
Parvez Rasool made his T20 debut against England in Kanpur.

He is known for creating history by becoming the first player from Jammu and Kashmir to represent India. He came into the limelight when he performed extremely well for Jammu and Kashmir with the limited opportunities he got during the 2012-13 Ranji season. He finished the season as Jammu's top scorer and highest wicket-taker.

He is more of a batting all-rounder and can provide stability to the lower middle order. However, in spite of having these marvelous abilities, he was not able to cement his place in the national setup and couldn't find an IPL franchise due to lack of variations in his bowling.

He can bowl off-spin but cannot really get through the defence of the batsman. Also, this weakness in his bowling undermines his batting abilities. His last IPL franchise was three-time finalists Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2016.

After the 9th edition of the IPL, he hasn't been in the scheme of things and was unsold in the 2018 IPL auction. He will have to improve his bowling and add variety in order to be considered by the IPL teams.

#1 Ashok Dinda

Ashok Dinda last played for India in 2013.

Hailing from a small village in Kolkata, Dinda at an early age was spotted of his abilities of bowling consistently. Under the guidance of coach Atal Dev Burman, he rose to his peak and performed well for Bengal consistently.

He was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the inaugural edition of the IPL, where he took 9 wickets in 13 games. Although he bowls yorkers consistently, he is far from being economical. He also holds an unwanted record of conceding the most runs by a bowler in the history of IPL.

He has played for several teams which includes Kolkata Knight Riders, Pune Warriors India, Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Rising Pune Supergiant. But he has never been the go-to-bowler in crunch situations.

His exaggerating style of bowling has little or no impact due to lack of pace. He was unsold in the 2018 IPL auction. With age not on his side, it will be a mountain task for him to find an IPL franchise in the upcoming years.
