“Every time I bat with him, spend time with him, I learn a lot. Every time I see Mahi bhai, I feel confident. That’s the sort of person he is. His aura is such that you just see him and tell yourself ‘I will deliver today’. He has the knack of getting the best out of every player,” Kedar Jadhav played a match-winning knock yesterday and credited former Indian skipper MS Dhoni after his performance.

Chasing a modest total of 237, the Men in Blue found themselves in a spot of bother as they were reduced to 99 for 4 before Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni calculated the chase to perfection. Jadhav scored an unbeaten 81 which helped him win the man of the match award. Dhoni, on the other hand, held up one end and scored an unbeaten 59 off 72 deliveries.

Jadhav's wonderful words about Dhoni came after his performance. In the past, Dhoni has been credited for the confidence that he has instilled in his players. On this note, let us take a look at five players who excelled under MS Dhoni but failed and faded away after that.

Ishwar Pandey was one of the most renowned fast bowling names in the Indian domestic circuit. Pandey was the leading wicket-taker in the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy season, his performances were rewarded as he was procured by the Pune Warriors India in 2013. Ishwar only had the opportunity to feature in two games where he could only manage to scalp a single wicket.

Next year, in 2014, the pacer was provided with the chance to play for Chennai Super Kings. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Ishwar picked up 17 wickets in 23 games. He bowled with the new ball and kept the runs under control in the first six overs. Pandey was at his best under MS Dhoni. Later, Pandey was included in the India A side and then earned a national call-up for the New Zealand tour.

Currently, Ishwar is playing domestic cricket for Madhya Pradesh. In the recently concluded first round of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Pandey picked up 9 wickets in 6 games.
