The Big Bash League 2022-23 is the 12th season of Australia men’s professional franchise T20 competition and it can also be called the BBL 12. The round-robin stage or the league stage is scheduled to play from December 13, 2022 to February 4, 2023.
A total of eight teams like every year will participate to play 56 league games before five teams advance to the knockout stage. The BBL finals as they call for the playoff matches are slotted in a five-match format from the 2019-20 season. Eliminator, Qualifier, Knockout, Challenger and Final are the five matches played in the BBL knockouts. The BBL finals for the 2022-23 season will be played between January 27, 2023 and February 4, 2023.
Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder are the eight participating teams in the BBL 12. Perth Scorchers are the most successful side in the history of the tournament, having four titles followed by their rivals Sydney Sixers with three titles.
Glenn Maxwell-led Melbourne Stars will take on Sydney Thunder in the BBL 2022-23 opener on December 13 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. Defending champions Perth Scorchers will start their campaign on December 17 against Sydney Sixers at the Perth Stadium.
