IPL 2018: How the Delhi Daredevils are expected to line up

The Delhi Daredevils have just qualified twice for playoffs in IPL, but have failed to make it over the line and lift the prestigious trophy. The team will be led by Gautam Gambhir, the franchise has managed to get Ricky Pointing as their coach. With yet another edition of the IPL coming up, the fans will be hoping to see their side emerge victoriously and grab their maiden title.

The franchise was successful in putting together a balanced squad from the recently concluded IPL auction. With the presence of a good mix of veterans and youngsters in the squad, Delhi Daredevils can be serious contenders to take home the IPL title.

Openers

Gautam Gambhir (C)

The Indian veteran is a prolific opening batsman in all formats of the game. He is one of the most consistent run-scorers and can dominate any bowling line-up in the competition. He adjusts his game according to the situation. He might lead the Delhi Daredevils in the upcoming IPL in the wake of his recent transfer from the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Colin Munro

Munro's aggressive batting style along with his bowling has made him an ideal player for the T20 format. He can destroy any bowling line-up with his monstrous hits over the boundary rope. He is also the world's number1 T20 batsman.

Middle Order

Rishabh Pant (WK)

The Indian wicket keeper is a stylish middle order batsman generally known for his big hitting. He pierces the gaps and make most of the fielding restrictions. He will most probably be donning the wicket keeping gloves for the team this season.

Glenn Maxwell

A brutal batsman and an agile fielder, there are a very few things that Maxwell can't do on a cricket field. Considered the most lethal batsman to have ever played the T20 format, he has the ability to strike the ball to any part of the ground, and DD will need his finishing abilities if they are to go all the way around

Shreyas Iyer

A clean hitter of the cricket ball, Shreyas has the ability to score runs quickly. He impressed one and all with his fearless batting in IPL 2016 and the ability to stay calm in the slog overs. However, form would be an aspect Shreyas would be hoping to improve before IPL 2018.

Vijay Shankar

The 26-year old is a prolific run scorer, powerful striker of the cricket ball and a medium pace bowler. He has time and as again proven himself, delivering crucial knocks in the middle order for the Ranji Tamil Nadu team. His batting consistency has made a place for himself in the National side.

Lower Middle order

Chris Morris

Morris' ability to strike in the slog overs with the bat and also bowl well at death makes him a handy customer. He is also a great new ball bowler and will be one of the core members of this Delhi Daredevils unit once again.

Amit Mishra

With brilliant performances in the 2017 edition of the IPL, Mishra will be heading into the upcoming season with a lot of confidence. At 35, he is one of India's trump card. With the ball, he is extremely consistent with his lines and lengths, Preventing batsman from hitting big ones.

Bowlers

Mohammed Shami

Shami's ability to bowl up front as well as during depth overs makes him one of the best Indian pacers in the competition and will be leading the Delhi Daredevils pace attack in IPL 2018.

Kagiso Rabada

The African bowler provides extra depth to the Delhi Daredevils bowling unit. While he is primarily known for his bowling skills, he possesses the ability to pick wickets in the depth overs. He mixes up his line and length well, making it difficult for a batsman to score runs of his bowling.

Shahbaz Nadeem

Nadeem has been one of Delhi's go to men in past IPL seasons. His study bowling action and accurate line and length make life difficult for the batsmen. He likes to toss the ball up and several of his wickets have come from batsman attempting to clear the fence.
