IND vs AUS T20 World Cup - 2016

A Virat Kohli special encounter. The Indian skipper was at his best in Mohali on 27 March 2016. Australia elected to bat first and hit the ground running with a 54-run opening stand in just over 4 overs. However, the home side managed to put the brakes on and restricted the Aussies to 160 in their 20 overs. The Indian innings never looked fully in control or fully out of control. Yuvraj Singh’s tacky 21-run knock off 18 balls put extra pressure on Virat Kohli as Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina were already back in the hut. Kohli accelerated after nearing his half-century and finished unbeaten on 89 off 51 balls as Team India chased down the total with 5 balls to spare and 6 wickets in hand.

IND vs AUS T20 World Cup - 2014

The Indians faced Australia at Dhaka in a group stage encounter. The Australia T20 World Cup squad chose to bowl first on a slow track. They did well to restrict most of the Indian batsmen but The Price, Yuvraj Singh, stood in their way for the nth time in his career. He played a quickfire knock of 60 runs in 43 balls while nobody else scored more than 24. India managed to get to 159 in their 20 overs. The second innings never looked more one-sided after the Aussies lost half their side with the score still reading 55 around the 10-over mark. It was too late for a fightback and were bundled out for 86 with Ravichandran Ashwin spinning his web to return with figures of 3.2-0-11-4.

IND vs AUS T20 World Cup - 2012

Australia’s day out. India were made to look like minnows as the Men in Yellow and Green dominated from the word go. India won the toss and decided to put some runs on the board in this Super Eight encounter. Their plan never worked out as they kept losing wickets and no batsman was set to go big at the death. With the highest run-scorer on the day being Irfan Pathan with 31 off 30 balls, all that they could get was 140. The Australian openers came out to bat and it seemed that they were given a new pitch to bat on. Shane Watson (72 off 42) and David Warner (63* off 41) practically finished the run-chase off with 9 wickets in hand and 31 balls to spare.

IND vs AUS T20 World Cup - 2010

This Group F encounter in Bridgetown saw India win the toss and elect to bowl first. Australian openers Shane Watson (54 off 32) and David Warner (72 off 42) set the tone for them as they finished with 184 on the board. Three out of six Indian bowlers had an economy over 10. It looked like a batting track until the second innings began. India lost wickets with the score reading 10, 12, 17, 23, 37, 42, 50 and were 97/8 pretty soon. Rohit Sharma (79* off 46) was the lone man standing as Harbhajan Singh’s 13 was the only other double-digit score on Team India’s batting card. They were bowled out for 135 and lost by 49 runs.

IND vs AUS T20 World Cup - 2007

Eventual champions Team India played their semi-final fixture against Australia on 22 September 2007 at Durban. Yuvraj Singh showed Australia what he had done to their Ashes rivals in the same T20 World Cup tournament. His sensational knock of 70 off 30 balls was built on the platform set by the opening pair of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. He was helped by Robin Uthappa (34) and MS Dhoni (36) to take India to 188/5 in 20 overs. Australian opener Matthew Hayden looked dangerous with a 47-ball 62, especially during his 66-run partnership with Andrew Symonds. However, once both these batsmen were gone, Australia couldn’t land the final blow and fell short by 15 runs.
