India and South Africa rivalry in the Cricket World cup started from their first World Cup clash in 1993, when the two teams came face to face on 15 March 1992. Playing at Adelaide, Australia, the Proteas team gained an easy victory by 6 wickets over India. Azharuddin and Kapil Dev scored half centuries in that match along with several others who contributed some part, but even that proved out to be insufficient to stop the Proteas team.
