Royal Challengers Bangalore needed a good performance to get back into contention for playoffs. With a batting lineup with such quality, RCB needed their batsmen to fire. AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli, arguably the two best batsmen in the world right now, put in a superlative performance with the bat as twin centuries from the duo helped them thrash Gujarat Lions by 144 runs.

Kohli scored his third century of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season as he along with ABD put on a record T20 partnership to help propel RCB to a total of 248. AB de Villiers scored an unbelievable knock as he notched up his second highest T20 score.

In reply, a Suresh Raina-less Gujarat Lions never looked like chasing down the mammoth total. Chris Jordan and Yuzvendra Chahal were the pick of the bowlers for the home side.
