What’s the story?

2017 IPL’s orange cap holder and Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Chris Lynn is likely to miss the remainder of the tournament after sustaining an injury to his left shoulder during his team’s match against Mumbai Indians.

Coach Jacques Kallis revealed that Lynn will need a substantial period of rest and it can force him to miss the rest of the tournament. In his column for Times of India, he wrote, “We are awaiting the results of the scans to Chris Lynn's shoulder which he dislocated on the field. It is a notoriously difficult area of the body to heal, so these are nervous times.

“He will undoubtedly need a substantial period of rest, and may even miss the rest of the tournament, which would be desperately disappointing for him and our fans after seeing what he is capable of doing during the first two games.”

Details

Lynn has been one of Kolkata’s shining stars in the first two matches as he showed glimpses of what he is capable of in the first match against Gujarat Lions. The 27-year-old has scored 125 runs in the first two matches of this year's IPL and is the holder of the orange cap for the leading run scorer in the tournament.

This is not the first time Lynn has hurt his left shoulder. The Aussie international has suffered injuries on the same shoulder thrice in the last two years.

His injury is a huge blow for Gautam Gambhir and co. as they are looking to fill the void left by West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell with the Queenslander as Lynn is as lethal as Russell with the bat in his hands.
