IPL 2018: A look at how Delhi Daredevils can line-up this season

Delhi Daredevils has been one of the teams who hasn't won an IPL Title.

Delhi Daredevils was successful in picking up a handful of astonishing players in all the fields. Daredevils will be entering with their heads high in the tournament with their Captain Gautam Gambhir.

It would be quite a difficult job for Ricky Ponting and Gambhir to pick up a squad of 11 out of a pool of 25 renowned players. Lets's look into the most probable side for their first against on 8 April against Kings XI Punjab in the Feroz Shah Kotla, Stadium.

Having Gambhir as an opener and a captain in the team will definitely boost up the entire team and will make the top order stronger.

Whenever we talk about hard hitting batsmen, Colin Munro is usually found at the top of the list.

The Kiwi batsman was the first cricketer to hit three centuries in the T20I cricket. He has played 45 T20Is in his career and scored 1173 runs at an astounding strike rate of 163.59.

He was adjudged with the man of the series in the recent T20I series against West Indies. He scored 223 runs at a strike rate of 197.34.

His recent form is a plus point for the Daredevils. Munro's hard-hitting performances are awaited by the entire team and the spectators.

He is undoubtedly the best top order batsmen which any of the teams could witness. Munro along with Gambhir can prove to be an indestructible opening pair in the season.

#3 Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer was retained by the Daredevils. He has contributed a lot for the Delhi Daredevils in the past seasons.

In the IPL 2017, he scored 338 runs in the 12 matches he played with a significant strike rate of 139.09. Iyer also gave an impressive performance in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka where he scored two beneficial half centuries.

He has played 46 games in first-class cricket and has scored 3938 with an exceptional average of 53.90. Delhi Daredevils would be expecting another big contribution from the youngster in this season.

#4 Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell has been undoubtedly the best buy for the Daredevils in the 2018 IPL Auction. He has played 43 T20Is in his career and scored 1072 runs at a blistering strike rate of 165.68.

Maxwell recently gave a thunderous performance in the Trans-Tasman Tri Series, where he was adjudged with the Man of the Series for scoring 233 runs and bagging three wickets.

The Australian has contributed significantly to the Kings Xi Punjab in the past seasons. He has played 57 IPL Matches in his career and has scored 1228 runs and bagged 11 wickets.

There is no doubt about the credibility this player. If we look into his recent form, we may witness raining sixes from the Aussie.

#5 Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant will be the one who shall be taking over the wicket-keeping responsibilities of the team.

Pant has been in an exceptional form in the domestic season. He scored a lot of runs for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy including a ton against Himachal Pradesh.

Pant has been a core member of the Daredevils for the past two seasons.

In the last season he scored 366 runs in the 14 matches he played at a phenomenal strike rate of 165.61.

Although Pant is currently struggling in the Nidahas Trophy, we all are aware of the immense capabilities that he possesses.

Vijay Shankar is currently impressing everyone with his performance in the ongoing Nidahas Trophy.

He was adjudged as the man of the match in his second match itself. He is one of the key all-rounders to watch out for in the IPL.

He has few fantastic first-class statistics. In the 32 matches he has played, he has scored 1671 runs at an astounding average of 49.14.

Shankar has also bagged 27 wickets in his first-class career which automatically increases his potential.

He would be hoping to impress all his teammates and the fans with his blistering performances.

#7 Chris Morris

Morris is unarguably one of the best all-rounders South Africa have ever witnessed in the limited overs cricket.

He has played 17 T20Is in his career and bagged 23 wickets. Morris impressed everyone with his recent performance against India in the T20I series. He proved to be an effective bowler, especially during the death overs.

Morris has been a part of Delhi Daredevils since 2016 and has immensely contributed in all the fields.

In the 21 games he's played for Daredevils he has bagged 25 wickets. One must not ignore his exceptional batting skills.

In the 2017 edition of the IPL, he scored 154 runs at a strike rate of 163.82. He will be expected to again impress all the members of his dressing room with his exceptional performances.

#8 Gurkeerat Singh Mann

Gurkeerat Singh Mann has been an all-rounder who has seemed to be disappeared after his tour with the senior team to Australia but one should not ignore his performances in the domestic cricket.

Mann has played 39 first-class matches and scored 2525 runs with an impressive average of 45.90.

He also has 28 wickets in his first-class career.

Mann has been a key player for Kings XI Punjab in the past few seasons.

He would be looking forward to representing an altogether different outfit and he would also be looking to get back to the Indian team.

Mishra would definitely add experience to the entire line up and would be hoping to carry on his incredible performance in the IPL.

#10 Kagiso Rabada

I would personally prefer Rabada over Boult because of his current form.

Rabada was impressive in the Test and ODI Series against India. He didn't allow the Indian batsmen to accelerate during the death overs which makes him a worthy bowler.

He has played 16 T20Is in his career and bagged 22 wickets. He was also the youngest bowler to become the world's No.1 bowler.

Rabada is definitely going to strengthen up the bowling line up and can be a threat to all the batsmen.

#11 Avesh Khan

The 23-year-old is likely to make a cut in the playing XI looking onto his great form in the first class cricket.

He has played eight matches and bagged 21 wickets at an impressive economy of 3.07.

Khan has played one IPL match representing Royal Challengers Bangalore. He bowled four overs and only gave away 23 runs of it.

He was also successful in taking a wicket. He would be highly excited about this tournament and would be hoping to immensely contribute to his team.
