IPL 6: Final - CSK vs MI - The Flops

The Mumbai Indians defeated the Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens by 23 runs in the final of the sixth edition of the IPL. The game saw some big hitting as well as some brilliant bowling. However, despite the brilliance shown, there were still some damp squibs who showed up as well.

Dwayne Smith

The big hitting West Indian had been in brilliant form, having hammered CSK and the Royals in the first two games of the playoffs. He hit Mohit Sharma’s third ball for four when the bowler strayed a bit wide. However, he went back to bowling at the stumps the very next ball, getting it to jag back onto Smith’s pads. CSK had banished their biggest nightmare and Smith was walking back to the dugout in the very first over.

Ravindra Jadeja

The Saurashtra southpaw stepped out onto the field with a moustache clearly inspired by ‘Rowdy Rathore’, and India team-mate Shikhar Dhawan, and looked rather ridiculous. His bowling was no better as Rayudu and Pollard sent his two overs out for 19 runs as Pollard sent him to the fence thrice, even though he did edge two of them. His batting then showed him at his worst. After tapping the first ball to a fielder, he suffered from a rush of blood to the head and went after the very next ball he faced, dancing down the track to the inventor of ‘Bhangnam’ and trying to loft it out of the field. The ball ballooned up into the air and then came crashing down into the waiting hands of the big and burly Pollard.

Suresh Raina

The usually dependable Raina came out to face a Malinga who was breathing fire. He got scorched as the “Slinger from Sri Lanka” sent him a vicious delivery that jumped at him and all he could do was fend it to the waiting Pollard who gleefully accepted the offering at square leg.
