Glenn Maxwell failed to lead by example

KXIP's worst total was registered against the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant. With seven wins and as many defeats, KXIP missed out on the playoff spots by just two points in the 2017 season.

The Glenn Maxwell-led outfit was under pressure in the 55th match of the season, with a vacant spot in the top 4 theirs for the taking. But they faltered and boy was it in spectacular fashion.

Steve Smith won the toss and put KXIP in to bat, and no player lasted more than 20 deliveries. That was Axar Patel, with a highest of 22. Maxwell and Guptill failed to trouble the scorers, while none of Shaun Marsh, Eoin Morgan and Saha provided a substantial contribution.

In just 15.5 overs, KXIP were cleaned up for an embarrassing 73. And as you'd expect, RPS endured no obstacle while chasing, as Ajinkya Rahane (34*) and Steve Smith (15*) took the side over the line.

Rahul Tripathi, who was one of the finds of the season, notched a fine 28 off just 20 balls.
