KL Rahul was pretty impressive playing for Karnataka in the domestic circuit which opened the doors for his international debut. This also paved the way for him playing in the IPL. He was taken as the back-up keeper for RCB in the 2013 season but wasn’t able to get enough games under his belt. In the next two seasons, he played for SRH with limited success. Even though he had a solid technique, his strike rate wasn’t up to the mark. In the 2016 auction, he was sold back to RCB where he found his rhythm and touch, scoring close to 400 runs in that season. He missed the 2017 season due to a shoulder injury. In the 2018 auctions, RCB failed to retain him as he was sold to KXIP. He had his best season with 659 runs in his bag which included six half-centuries. If Rahul was retained, RCB wouldn’t have struggled to find a solid opener.
