Virat Kohli: RCB not playing as a team

Royal Challengers Bangalore were touted as a strong contender for gaining top position in the 7th edition of IPL. The obvious reason was the presence of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, AB de Villiers and with a battery of equally effective bowlers like Varun Aaron and Mitchell Starc. But unfortunately, they have lost 5 out of the 8 matches they have played so far.

Commenting on the situation after losing their crucial match against Kings XI Punjab on Friday by a margin of 32 runs, Kohli said: “”We did not play as a unit and it has happened in the past. Punjab were a better side but we paid the price for not playing as a team. One or two decisions did not go our way and that blocked our momentum. We need to play our cricket more responsibly. Our top-order needs to score big. We need a bit of luck and with one win, things can change. It is time to play smart cricket.”

He further added, “There is no scope of losing anymore. This can be a blessing in disguise too. There is no room for complacency and we need to pull up our socks.”

RCB fans would be hoping that the team can gel together and start performing quickly.
