Star India cricketer Suryakumar Yadav has congratulated Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj on their engagement via Instagram. The duo got engaged on Sunday, June 8, in Lucknow.

Announcing their engagement, Priya Saroj and Rinku Singh together posted an emotional video on Instagram. The video captures moments from the ceremony.

"Bahut bahut badhai," Suryakumar Yadav commented on the video (which translates to 'hearty congratulations').

"To hold, to honor, to grow," Priya Saroj wrote in the caption.

Priya Saroj is a Samajwadi Party (SP) MP and is also one of the youngest members of parliament in the country. Senior SP leaders, including party chief and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, his wife and Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav, attended the engagement ceremony at a hotel in Lucknow.

Rinku Singh's quiet IPL 2025 season

Meanwhile, Rinku Singh did not have a great IPL 2025 season with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The star batter was retained for ₹13 crore ahead of the mega auctions.

However, the left-hander, known his big and explosive hitting, could not live up to the expectations this season. He managed to score only 206 runs from 11 innings at an average of 29.42 and a strike-rate of 153.73. He also failed to register a single fifty or hundred this season.

Rinku Singh was not seen at his best, which also affected the performance of the team. KKR, who had won the title for the third time in 2024, did not anywhere close to defending their title this time around.

KKR failed to make the playoffs and finished eighth on the points table. The defending champions won just five of their 14 matches, and with seven defeats, gathered 12 points throughout the season.

It will be interesting to see whether the franchise will hold on to Rinku or release him ahead of IPL 2026.
