Chennai rain prediction today: What are the chances of rain during the CSK vs LSG match in IPL 2024?

Defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will square off against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 39th match of IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, April 23.

CSK began their tournament from where they left off last season, winning two games. However, their campaign took a jolt when they were handed defeats by the Delhi Capitals and the SunRisers Hyderabad. Chennai won their next two games again before losing to Lucknow in their last outing. Back to their den, CSK will look to return the favor on Wednesday.

LSG, on the other hand, began their season with a loss but bounced back to win three on the trot. KL Rahul and company lost their next two games but stormed back to beat CSK convincingly by eight wickets at home. They are currently placed fifth in the standings.

With the tournament inching closer towards the business end, both teams will be desperate to bag two points tonight. As a result, an edge-of-the-seat contest awaits fans, who are expected to fill the Chidambaram Stadium in huge numbers.

Much to their delight, there is no chance of rainfall at all during the game in Chennai. According to the forecast, there will be intermittent clouds across the city in the evening, but it is unlikely to cause any showers.

However, the temperature will be soaring high, ranging over 30 degrees Celsius. But given the high humidity level, the actual feeling would be around 37-38 degrees Celsius.

Lucknow skipper KL Rahul made the difference in the last game against the Super Kings with his match-winning half-century. His innings helped the team chase down 177 runs with one over to spare.

Chennai will have a separate set of plans to stop Rahul this time around. Speaking to reporters on the eve of the reverse fixture, Mike Hussey said:

"He's a great player, he's been a fantastic player for a long period of time. He's very difficult to bowl to because he plays great shots all around the ground. He seems to be in a very good mindset at the moment, he looks confident and he's playing some good cricket. That makes him very dangerous."

"And I think he's also got the ability to go on and play that big innings, he can score 80-plus. If you've got a batter in your line-up who can score 80-plus then you're going to win a lot of games. So I guess if we can get the ball moving early that'll be a big bonus for us," he added.

KL Rahul has amassed 286 runs in seven IPL 2024 matches at an average of 40.86 and a strike rate of 143.
