"We didn’t just grow up as players..." - Former Mumbai cricketer's heartfelt note for Rohit Sharma upon meeting him during T20 Mumbai League 2025

Former Mumbai cricketer Bhavesh Patel penned a heartfelt note for Rohit Sharma after meeting him during the T20 Mumbai League 2025. Rohit, who is the brand ambassador of the tournament, attended a game of the league, played at the Wankhede Stadium.

Bhavesh Patel played one game in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai in 2007, and is now a Level 1 BCCI coach. He is currently serving as the fielding coach of the Maratha Royals team in the T20 Mumbai League.

Bhavesh caught up with Rohit Sharma at the Wankhede Stadium. He put up multiple pictures with the India ODI captain in an Instagram post, where he spoke about their friendship, and how they had grown up together on and off the field.

"Meeting after years, but the bond stayed unshaken..🫂♥️Just like our love for the game. Cricket taught us discipline, patience, and respect… but this friendship taught us how to carry those lessons off the field too.😊 We didn’t just grow up as players — we grew as people, and today was a beautiful reminder of where it all began. Wishing you nothing but the best @rohitsharma45," he wrote in his post.

When will Rohit Sharma be in action next?

Rohit Sharma featured for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2025 season. The right-hander scored 418 runs at an average of 29.85 and a strike-rate of 149.28 with four half-centuries from 15 matches.

MI qualified for the playoffs but could not go all the way as they lost the second qualifier. Rohit recently announced his retirement from Test cricket after retiring from T20Is following India's triumphant 2024 T20 World Cup run.

Therefore, he will only play ODI cricket for India, and captain as well. Team India's next scheduled ODI series is against Bangladesh in August later this year, followed by a white-ball tour of Australia in October.

If the scheduled India-Bangladesh series does go ahead, Rohit Sharma is expected to captain the Men in Blue. If it doesn't, then his fans can catch him in action on the tour to Australia.

Notably, Rohit scored 4301 runs in his Test career and 4231 runs in T20Is.
