"You have made us all proud" - Rishabh Pant's heartfelt post for LSG teammate after SA vs AUS 2025 WTC Final

Team India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant lauded his Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) teammate Aiden Markram's heroics in the recently concluded World Test Championship (2025 WTC) final. Markram's 136-run knock in the fourth innings helped the Proteas beat defending champions Australia on Day 4 (Saturday, June 14) of the red-ball clash.

Pant praised Markram's effort and emphasized that the batter made everyone proud with his clutch batting performance. Congratulating the opening batter and South Africa on the WTC 2025 final victory, the LSG skipper wrote on X:

"Well played, Aiden brother . I am so happy for you - what a great knock under pressure. You have made us all proud and congratulations to South Africa on lifting the WTC mace,"

South Africa were required to chase a stiff 282-run target in the final innings. Markram set the tone with a sensational century. His 147-run partnership with Temba Bavuma for the third wicket was instrumental in the team crossing the finish line.

Markam was adjudged the Player of the Match in the 2025 WTC final. Apart from his ton with the bat, he also picked up two wickets in the Test.

Aiden Markram departed for a six-ball duck in South Africa's first innings of their final clash against Australia. However, the 30-year-old made amends by slamming a match-winning hundred in the subsequent essay.

Speaking about his performance, Markram said in the post-match presentation (quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo):

"Haven't scored more important runs. Weird how things worked out after a duck in the first innings. Need a bit of luck, spent some time in the middle and find runs, glad things worked out. Reception will stick out. Lord's is the place every Test cricketer wants to play. To play a final here is incredibly special. Plenty of SA fans who've made through, plenty at home too, it's one of the most special days."

It is worth mentioning that with the triumph, South Africa ended their 27-year ICC trophy drought.
