Building a team with Cipher in Honkai Star Rail with characters that have good synergy with her is just as important as having a good build. Unlike most characters in this gacha title from HoYoverse, Cipher has exceptional synergy with almost every unit. However, some have better synergy than the rest; therefore, it's recommended to pair her with them as the team will be unstoppable.

Who are the best teammates for Cipher in Honkai Star Rail?

1) Castorice

If you want your Cipher to deal an exceptional amount of damage, then Castorice is the best teammate for that. Since the latter is capable of eliminating her opponents in an instant, especially her memosprite, Netherwing, the Nihility unit can record an impressive amount of damage.

Since Cipher places the “Patron” state on the enemy that has the highest HP on the battlefield, she can easily record decent damage. Hence, when using Castorice, the Nihility unit will be able to rack up a decent amount of recorded damage as the former’s output is exceptionally high. This means Cipher will be able to unleash mini-nukes more often.

2) Acheron

Another character you should pair Cipher with is Acheron. Similar to Castorice, Acheron’s damage output is exceptionally high, which helps Cipher to be able to record a good amount of damage quickly and unleash it immediately on the opponents.

Besides that, since Cipher is a Nihility character, it will help Acheron reach the full requirement of her “The Abyss” Trace, which boosts her three major abilities’ damage by 160% when she is accompanied by two units following the abovementioned Path.

3) Feixiao

While Feixiao has access to good sub DPS units in Honkai Star Rail, Cipher is one of the best teammates for her. Since both units have access to follow-up attacks, they can help each other deal more damage.

As Fexiao’s ultimate requires her to gain a total of six stacks of Flying Aureus to activate it, Cipher can easily assist her in accumulating those stacks. Similarly, Cipher needs a teammate to hit the adversary in the “Patron” state to activate her FUA. Here, Feixiao can help her unleash it, and both can continue this cycle until the fight ends.

Besides that, Cipher can render the adversary vulnerable that Feixiao is targeting, since the latter follows The Hunt Path and excels in single-target damage.

4) The Herta

The Herta is one of the meta-defining DPS units in Honkai Star Rail, capable of completing most end-game activities without breaking a sweat. With Cipher as her teammate, the character can accumulate a significant amount of Energy every turn, allowing her to use her Ultimate more often.

Since Cipher is quite fast compared to The Herta, she can act more than the latter in a single turn. This helps her gain a significant amount of Ultimate Energy, as the quantity she needs is quite high compared to most characters from this title. Additionally, the amount of damage Cipher can record when paired with The Herta is abnormally high, as she is an AoE damage dealer.

If you are out of options, then Dr. Ratio is the best teammate for Cipher in Honkai Star Rail. The former can deal damage through follow-up attacks, and the latter can do the same.

As Cipher follows the Nihility Path, she can easily place debuffs on the enemies by using her abilities. This helps out Dr. Ratio to launch FUAs as the chances of him unleashing the said attack increase depending on how many debuffs an enemy has.

Besides that, if the enemy Dr. Ratio hits is in the “Patron” state, Cipher will be able to launch a FUA on that adversary.
