Andy Cowell is a British motorsport engineer. He is currently the team principal and the CEO of the Aston Martin Formula 1 team. He was born on February 12, 1969, in Britain. Cowell earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and joined Cosworth as an intern. Through his internship, he learned about the design and development of F1 engines.

In 1999, he was the project head for the CK Engines, which used Stewart Grand Prix engines. However, the powertrain won the Grand Prix. Seeing this, BMW Motorsport hired Cowell as the design assistant for the new projects for the BMW-Williams F1 engine, which ran from 2001 to 2005.

Andy Cowell is the F1 team principal for the Aston Martin F1 team in 2025. With his 10 years of experience as engineering director for Mercedes-Benz, Andy was appointed as the new CEO for the Aston Martin F1 in 2024. He replaced Martin Whitmarsh, taking charge, and before the start of the 2025 season, he took over the role of Aston Martin's team principal.

Aston Martin’s engineering leadership for 2025 includes several prominent figures, including Andy Cowell. For the 2026 season, a new member will become a part of the AM Group. He’s none other than Adrian Newey. He will be appointed as the managing technical director from 2026 onwards.
