Mercedes-Benz is a German automotive brand that has competed in Formula 1 since the 1950s. After Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz is the second team in the sport's history to enter as both the owner and the engine manufacturer. For the current 2025 season, the team is known as the Mercedes Petronas Formula 1 team. The team started its first Formula 1 season at the French Grand Prix in 1954. With eight constructors' titles and nine drivers' championships, Mercedes has been one of the fourth-largest successful teams in the history of Formula 1.

The team has been home to many legendary drivers like Juan Manuel Fangio, Nico Rosberg, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton. Also known as the Silver Arrows, Mercedes entered into the sport in 1954 with Fangio as the team’s driver and dominated until 1955. After a 55-year hiatus, Mercedes was back in F1, and it dominated in the hybrid era from 2014 to 2020.
