Despite no official word regarding Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6, the buzz surrounding the sequel continues to grow. It has easily become one of the most anticipated games in recent memory, with fans eagerly waiting for a trailer or its official announcement. With Grand Theft Auto V being a decade old, there is a lot that the upcoming title can borrow from Rockstar's most recent release, Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 revolves around the story of Arthur Morgan and his gang of outlaws. The game is incredibly detailed, and players continue to discover new things even today. That said, let's look at five gameplay features that GTA 6 should adapt from Red Dead Redemption 2.

Realistic Gunplay and 4 more gameplay features that GTA 6 should adapt from Red Dead Redemption 2

1) A lived-in world

One of the biggest complaints about Grand Theft Auto V is the world that it is set in. While the game's map is quite expansive, the player base has been very vocal about how most of Los Santos fails to portray a realistic and bustling city. On the other hand, Rockstar Games was able to bring Saint Denis (a city in Red Dead Redemption 2) to life brilliantly.

Even the smaller towns scattered around the map have a lot of characters and depth to themselves. A similar approach is expected for GTA 6, which is rumored to be set in Vice City.

2) Improved gunplay

For all that GTA V and Online's gunplay has to offer, it is pretty basic and almost feels like a step back from Grand Theft Auto IV. This is one of the many areas where fans expect improvement. While no game's shooting mechanics are perfect, firing different types of weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2 felt unique and had a lot of weight to it.

If Rockstar Games adapt this gameplay feature to Grand Theft Auto 6, it will elevate the game to another level. The upcoming game can also take inspiration from Max Payne 3, praised for having some of the best shooting mechanics in an action-adventure title.

3) In-depth NPC interaction

The quality of NPCs populating an in-game world determines how realistic and immersive the game feels. While playing Red Dead Redemption 2, not only can players interact with each and every NPC, but they are also free to have in-depth conversations or heated arguments.

This was also one of the most revolutionary gameplay features in GTA San Andreas. Rockstar should definitely import and improve upon this mechanic in Grand Theft Auto 6.

4) Honor system

Red Dead Redemption 2 features an Honor system integral to the game's story. While acts of kindness contribute towards building a positive reputation, bad deeds increase notoriety. How a player carries themself during the game's main campaign deeply influences many story events and even the ending.

Be that as it may, the basic premise of a Grand Theft Auto game revolves around committing acts of crime and violence. Thus, replicating this gameplay feature in an exact manner might seem a little out of place. Still, Rockstar could implement it in a way where the player's actions impact GTA 6's story in some shape or form.

5) Seamless random events

When exploring the sprawling map of Red Dead Redemption 2, encountering strangers needing help is a common sight. These events sometimes unfold in an unexpected manner and put Arthur in a precarious situation. However, the seamless transition from free-roaming to a scripted sequence is something that should be adapted to GTA 6.

A very rudimentary mechanic of this sort already exists in Grand Theft Auto V in the form of Strangers and Freaks. Hence, improving upon it by taking inspiration from Red Dead Redemption 2 will greatly enhance the overall experience of Grand Theft Auto 6.
