GTA 6 trailers are something that many players tend to look up. However, they're fake and should not be treated as legitimate by the time this article was written. A new teaser shared by somebody named Billy Johnson has recently garnered some attention online, but it's most likely fake. Do note that Rockstar Games had not officially revealed any footage for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game.

Some video content was leaked, but that was from the old beta testing and is not indicative of the forthcoming game's final quality. It is worth noting that a few different GTA 6 trailers have garnered some popularity in the past few years.

As hyped as fans are to see some official news about this game, they need to accept that the recent teasers are most likely fake and are just hoaxes to pass the time.

Alleged GTA 6 trailer from Rockstar North is most likely fake

The video part of the second tweet shown here is the supposed trailer uploaded to YouTube by Rockstar North before apparently getting deleted. Shaky camera footage over a TV helps obscure a few technical mishaps, which helps make the GTA 6 trailer seem more believable.

Nonetheless, some teasers have been leaked this way before, so let's check out why else this particular video is likely fake. The montages used here do look interesting, but here are some things that gamers have pointed out to refute the authenticity of this teaser:

  • No copyright strikes: Rockstar or Take-Two should have taken down this video with a copyright strike.
  • Real-life cars: Grand Theft Auto games never use real-life vehicles, so seeing them in a trailer for an upcoming game is unlikely unless Rockstar has changed their approach.
  • Potential errors: Rockstar is known for their excellent production, so having a few mishaps in a hugely anticipated video is unlikely. For example, the supposed model for Jason has a glitchy full-body twitch near the end of the trailer that seems like an animation error.

Some leaked videos still exist on YouTube. Hence, it wouldn't be entirely impossible that a trailer could have escaped detection. A revealed GTA 6 trailer is just unlikely.

Fake ads posing as GTA 6 trailers already exist

Some gamers take it another step and make fake Rockstar North accounts to post a fake teaser for the next Grand Theft Auto game. If readers use the hyperlink in the above tweet, they will discover that the YouTube account that made this fake ad was terminated.

Still, these channels only need to exist briefly before they get deleted. Sometimes they just release hoaxes, while others post malicious links that viewers should avoid clicking on to ignore any potential phishing attempt or other nefarious malware.

It is vital to mention that the next Grand Theft Auto game is not due to be released in 2024, as Rockstar has never officially revealed the upcoming title's release date. There are currently no credible leaks regarding when the GTA 6 trailer will come out.

Astute gamers should know that there have been rumors about a teaser coming out practically sometime every month for the past few years, yet they always fall short. There will likely be even more hoaxes in the upcoming months, so be diligent and don't believe everything you see.
