Dune Awakening: How to get a Buggy

Dune Awakening Buggy
Nothing in Dune Awakening makes life easier than the Buggy; but is it ever a grind to get! (Image via Funcom)

As you progress through Vermillius Gap and beyond in Dune Awakening, you’ll start having a need for a buggy. This four-person vehicle can be equipped with various pieces of gear, like a mining laser and a container. Once you have a buggy with a solid mining laser, farming materials become a piece of cake. Suddenly, you can farm Carbon easier, Aluminium, and so many other materials.

It can take some pretty hefty grinding to get your first buggy, but it’s a complete game-changer, for farming in Dune Awakening. Once you’ve made your way across the dunes to Vermillius Gap, here’s how you can unlock the buggy.

How to craft your own Buggy in Dune Awakening

Dune Awakening’s Buggy requires quite a few parts, which in turn, take some pretty serious grinding. That’s the worst part about this vehicle; if you want a vehicle that makes farming easy, you have to first farm in some pretty inhospitable places. Before that, make sure to research Buggy Mk3 Assembly from the Steel section of the Research menu. This is a very serious grind, so you may have to take it in parts, getting all the materials:

Farming the Cobalt for the Steel is already a pretty serious task on its own. Hopefully you built your base in Vermillius close to the northern border. Next, you need Cobalt Paste, which requires you to farm Erythite Crystals, and that requires you to head into Hagga Rift.

The Servoks and Particle Capacitors come from Imperial Testing Stations and likely shipwrecks, as well. Armor Plating can be salvaged from Metal, but it’s easier to just kill armored enemies and loot their bodies for this Buggy part in Dune Awakening.

Complex Machinery comes from the various Ironworks and factories scattered throughout the desert, and is a pretty easy find. However, there are some other ways you can make this grind just a bit easier. Imperial Testing Stations in Vermillious Gap and beyond can have Buggy Parts you can loot in Dune Awakening.

That way, you can get some free parts, craft one or two of your own, and then slowly replace parts as you need to. You can also get many of the parts from ships that crash down into the sands from the skies but it’s risky. You run the risk of sandworm attacks, and nobody wants to recover from sandworm death.

This can make the grind significantly easier, but it’s still a grind. Once you have all the parts, you can put it together just like you did the sandbike. Then, we highly recommend a container and mining laser to make your future farming infinitely easier.

Finally, you can claim a free buggy in Dune Awakening, but let me warn you: it’s a piece of junk. It barely has 15% durability, and it will break down. It will likely break down fast. However, it can be a solid starter, or a base to build around. Just go to the area above, and hopefully it’s there!

It has a respawn timer, and you just have to show up and interact with it to claim it. However, some servers, people will claim it, and leave it there, so nobody else can get it for free. It stops the respawn timer. Just something to think about, if you want to try and grab one without any crafting.
