World of Warcraft: Dragonflight tier list - Top DPS classes for Aberrus raid (10.1)

Which DPS classes stand out in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight?
With Aberrus looming, it's time to look at World of Warcraft: Dragonflight DPS classes (Image via Blizzard Games)

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight has no shortage of powerful DPS classes to use in Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. Every class in the game has at least one damage spec, with some, like Rogue, being all about dealing damage. However, not all of them are equal in WoW's current raid tier. Unfortunately, with there being 26 damage specs in the game, we will not go into a discussion about their strengths and weaknesses. Instead, we’ll cover a few in brief and what puts a class in a specific tier.

This doesn't mean a low-tier class isn’t worth using. All classes are worthwhile in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, depending on your skill level and the situation that you find yourself in. With that in mind, here is my opinion on what the best DPS classes are in WoW.

Which DPS classes are the strongest in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’s Aberrus raid?

1) S-Tier classes

S-Tier

  • Destruction Warlock
  • Demonology Warlock

This won't be a shock to long-time World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, but the top DPS class in Aberrus will go to two out of the three Warlock builds. Frankly, I think Demonology spec is better between the two, though. Between defensive cooldowns, and a swarm of minions to fight for you, they’re incredible. You can burn a few cooldowns and even stand still and dps when you’re supposed to be moving.

Destro is the DPS class to go to when you don’t have any other Warlocks. Their best abilities are all about standing still and obliterating enemies (EG: Eradication), but that’s not always going to be the case in the Aberrus raid.

2) A-Tier classes

A-Tier

  • Balance Druid
  • Devastation Evoker
  • Marksmanship Hunter
  • Arcane Mage
  • Enhancement Shaman
  • Outlaw Rogue

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight raids will need more than just Warlocks - no matter what they might tell you. You’ll need a wide variety of damage dealers. The A-Tier classes are fantastic but a bit more specialized than the S-Tier DPS classes.

While Fire Mages might have the better or more useful tier set bonuses, Arcane Mages have some of the best single-target bursts in the game. When you absolutely need to burst down a target immediately, that’s the DPS class you want to consider.

Enhancement Shaman is a DPS class that can cleave or deal single-target damage without effort. They also bring Windfury Totem, which aids all other characters in the melee range. That more than makes them viable for a raid group.

3) B-Tier classes

B-Tier

  • Arms Warrior
  • Fury Warrior
  • Elemental Shaman
  • Unholy Death Knight
  • Havoc Demon Hunter
  • Fire Mage
  • Retribution Paladin
  • Frost Death Knight
  • Frost Mage
  • Shadow Priest
  • Beast Master Hunter

B-Tier DPS classes are still strong, but the above classes slightly edge them out. With that in mind, you still need more variety in your World of Warcraft: Dragonflight raids. Thus, you’ll want a few of these for one purpose or another.

These classes are useful for the utility they bring to a raid. Havoc Demon Hunter has Chaos Brand, and Retribution Paladin could, in theory, use Devotion Aura. They lose DPS when they do this, but it might be useful in certain situations.

It’s unfortunate that Ret Paladins have fallen this far, but this could change with time. A good Ret Paladin will always be viable as they still deal incredible damage. Their downfall is a lack of useful utility.

4) C-Tier classes

C-Tier

  • Feral Druid
  • Affliction Warlock
  • Survival Hunter
  • Windwalker Monk
  • Subtlety Rogue

While at the bottom of the tier list, the C-Tier DPS can stand out from the pack with the right skill and situation. These classes excel in other parts of the game, such as PVP or even Mythic+ dungeons.

Why is there such a big gap between the Warlock specs, though? Affliction isn’t bad, rather far from it. It’s just that the other two builds are far more powerful and do everything that Affliction does better. If you can’t find a Demo or Destro, use this build instead.

That’s the story of C-Tier World of Warcraft: Dragonflight classes, unfortunately. Everything that these classes can do, others do better. Subtlety Rogues do solid cleave damage, but so do Retribution Paladins. Their single-target damage is weak, too, making them a subpar pick.

While skill is usually more important than the damage output for most cases, the DPS classes on top are certainly there for a reason. As time goes on and strategies unfold, this World of Warcraft: Dragonflight tier list could certainly change.
